After reading the novelization of DOTM, and knowing that this movie will make another butt load of money, I ask the question of whether they will truly Reboot Transformers or will :bay  continue on his reign once DreamWorks Pictures writes him another check.

If so the bigger question will be how will they go about this new arch with all the deaths of so many popular characters in this up coming film? Will they bring on a long awaited Unicron arch with a season 3 feel to it?

It's safe to say :bay  can go George Lucas with this franchise via Ultramagnus, Hotrod etc.

*Note:I liked the book but I have historically posted my disdain for the overall design of "Bayformers" and it's bastardising of our most favorite characters. That said I go into this thread with a grain of salt. LOL

You call them bastardizing, I call them better then the originals. Also A fat check won't sway bay into another film series, Hes already got a fat surplus in the bank.

I'd rather they wait a decade or two and then reboot it.

i think i heard they would probably make a fourth, just without Bay. I hope it doesnt go like with jurassic park where everyone was expecting a fourth movie one of the designs artists leaves then its called off.

I'm pretty sure it never happened because they didn't have an idea, then the author Michael Crichton died, THEN Stan Winston died...

They're actually STILL saying it's coming eventually.

I'm honestly hoping for a reboot. Bay's run his course. DotM has massive closure. Let some new blood in, I say.

At this rate, it could go either way. Either we could get a 4th movie, with or without Michael Bay, or we could get a reboot.

For me, it doesn't matter. As long as the Movie-verse continues in any form, I'll be happy.

NO F*****G REBOOT. This makes no sense. Who wants to see Autobot & Decepticons arrive on Earth once again? I am sick of this already.

Another trilogy set 20 years later in the same continuity, with some new, and some old transformers, with new director, and new cast is the right way to go. Some characters may be killed off, but there are plenty of others, and there is always a chance for some of killed in action bots & cons to be resurrected and return.

UNICRON WOULD BE A MUST and all the autobots that survive DOTM have to have a nice role in it

Trying to incorporate a "live-action" Unicron into the film would kill it. The movie passes for "live-action" simply due to the fact that the transition from "vehicle" to "robot" is so seamless and perfect, it FEELS real because it LOOKS real.

A planet on the other hand? You think the critics hated the second one...

Hasbro and Paramount will not put a multi-billion dollar franchise on hold for 10-20 years. The next movie will be 2013...2014 tops.

This franchise will keep going until its unprofitable... so for a good while yet. Why do some people assume that if Bay doesn't do a fourth then somehow a reboot is the only option?

I'd say one of the advantages of having a cast full of CGI robots is that anyone could direct/write the next instalment and still maintain a kind of continuity-of-style for a series.

I am sick of "reboot" being the answer to everything. All Marvel film series seem to be rebooted at the moment and its ticking me off. It's just the trendy thing atm, and Transformers does not need it.

If the writer's and a new director could write and show a story that made coherent sense, maybe they wouldn't need a reboot, but so far it hasn't happened. Plus the designs of the bots suck.
