Well, if you look back to the first movie they weren't easy to kill. Blackout took down an entire military base solo and during the final battle got his ass shot off by Lennox and a bunch of F-22s after being attacked by Ratchet and Ironhide(and came in in ROTF if you believe that it was him and that Grindor is just a toy name). Brawl got attacked by all the Autobots, except Prime, and the humans there and managed to get back up and back the humans into a corner. Barricade gets messed up by Bumblebee and gets back up, Frenzy is reduced to just a head at one point and survives, Megatron takes countless hits from humans, Optimus, and the other Autobots and just shrugs most of it off. It only started in ROTF that the Cons became so stupidly fragile.

In the first movie the Decepticons were actually hard to kill, but after that the writers and Bay got lazy.

 

It's a problem that Hollywood often suffers from. In an attempt to make a hero seem stronger they end up making the villains too weak. Not many people in Hollywood remember that the stronger the villain the greater the hero is for over coming the bad guy.

Take the Rambo movies for example. The first film Rambo was pretty tough because he wasn't a super human killing machine but a well trained guy who got screwed over. By the end of the Rambo series he's so ridiculous powerful he could almost kill people by putting bullets in his butt and farting at the bad guys.

The only 'Cons that weren't easy to kill were The Fallen and Megatron. The Fallen took a hefty beating from Optimus before he had his face and spark ripped out. Megatron killed by Allspark, rebuilt by mad scientist, gets crap kicked out of him by Optimus including shot to the head, beat up by Sentinel, finally dies once he gets an axe to the gapping hole in his head. Now that's badass.

 

but Vader and Emperor were not getting bested EVERY single time they made a move,if I remember correctly the empire pretty much owned the rebels outside of a new hope and lukes "lucky shot".

if you are referring to them being killed by human weapons, then I offer this explanation: The Transformers are designed and constructed from an alloy that has the ability on the molecular level to alter it's physical properties, thus allowing them to transform.

However, this does not make them inpenetrable, it actually is a weakness. You recall in the first film where Scorponok's tail had a hole in it where a 40mm artillery shell had hit it. That round superheats to 10,000 degrees farenheit, melting tank armor to allow the inside of the tank to become a pressure cooker of sorts.

These rounds could very easily cause significant damage to critical sections of the cons that would kill them, along with the kinetic force of the round striking them.

Also, recall in DOTM when Lennox tells the Seal Team to go full auto on their weapons, because it rattles their circuits? He was referring to sonic vibrations. If a standard machine gun can cause interference to them, then they are suseptible to being killed by high explosive rounds from missiles, cannons, ext.

It would be like us visiting another planet and getting sick from an extra terrestrial bacteria that we weren't prepared for.

The rail gun used to kill Demolisher is another example, as it uses linear induction motors to super charge twin rows of magnets that launch a tungsten projectile at hypervelocity ( mach 5+) speeds.

There is no explosive there, just tremendous kinteic energy released upon impact. If you watch closely you see the round cutting him in half, then continuing on through his body.
