Really....? Using vintage Super Friends art with the recent Ravage stock images for Issue #2?

I'm pretty sure DC didn't invent people standing with their arms held out. And it's not like Magno's the only person to ever copy stock images.

And it's not the first time this has ever happened in a comic book.

I don't see what the beef is? You can find that superhero pose in a thousand comic issues and covers. It's probably one of the most, if not the most, iconic pose a superhero can have. I highly doubt...no, I completely doubt he's copying a fucking transformers cover.

Demolishor in TOTF #2, stock toy image and CG render
The Fallen in TOTF #4, every dead on shot of his face is the same first ROTF image we've seen

Not image stolen but toy models stolen:
    Rampage in TOTF #3
Protoform Optimus in TOTF #4 as Optimus ancestor for some reason

....I just don't think this guy is original or good at all....even his cover for Nefarious issue 1 has Optimus and Bumblebee standing there in images we've seen before as well. If I were an artist I'd be ashamed to take ILMs work and call it my own.

If for any reason I have to stand with both arms held out, can I expect you to leap out of a bush and rant about me being unoriginal?

So does that mean that me sitting here at my desk is a rip off/homage to someone else sitting at their desk at this exact moment in time despite me not knowing of the other person's existence?

How is it stolen when it's a licensed product from the same franchise? That's ridiculous.

Is it just me, or is there something wrong with Soundwave's arms and head? They look... off somehow.

yes... i shall jump out of the next bush you walk by... so keep an eye on your secretary...

i think that should be your battle cry "OMG OMG PANIC PANIC! TO THE INTERNET!!!"

and yeah, i see nothing wrong with this... Comics use the same poses all the time... for instance,

see what Kolins did on that second one? put a little thank you to VanSciver... its not a big deal, everything is alright with the world...

sometimes i'm sure its done because someone saw a pose, said hey, that's a great pose, let me give that a try... i mean, how many times has the Superman holding a dead Supergirl pose been used?

wow... just learned this cover was actually 20 years before the superman use...

and even our beloved transformers ALMOST used a cover that was the same...

like i said, its all about Homage and placing nods to artist you may have liked or been inspired by...

Pretty sure that BN Flash cover was on purpose, a direct homage to that Flash Rebirth cover.

I think theres quite a bit of difference between an artist co-opting a well known cover and making a homage (case in point being the AHM cover that references The Killing Joke), and an artist just taking previously done art and essentially tracing the poses rather than using originality in developing his own. I imagine its debatable where the line is, and intent is likely a factor, but an artist is paid to generate something new, not just rehash the same art poses over and over, right?

For the case of using stock toy images and poses on comic covers, isn't this especially true? Why not just use the stock toy image instead of paying the artist to develop new art then?
