    Ebay:
I love G1 kos but my blood boils every time I see these asshats selling them as vintage claiming "I dont know much about these so please look carefully before bidding" or when they're called out as reissues and people STILL bid waay over what they can easily be had for on various websites. I know its against ebay's policy to sell them but I think as long as they're called out for what they are I don't see a problem.

You can really familiarize yourself through a lot of the references here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...ell-new-ko-reissues-apart-authentic-toys.html

There are subtle differences in the packaging art that you can spot from the originals. Look at the tip of his blaster on the box art:

    G1

You can see how much more over the line it extends. They're getting closer over time, but there's always something.

The thing that sucks is that I reported a seller to ebay, and ebay still let him sell that item and the other items I reported as being fake. So not sure EBay cares as much.

As for Sunstreaker, the easiest way for me to tell is by the writting:

Real has Ages: 5 & Up
    Fake has Ages. 5& Up

    So if you see a "." instead of a ":" it's a fake.

I don't mind the fakes myself. Just price them accordingly and say it is a fake.

*edit* Alucard beat me to it. But I had a question though. In firehawc's pic, the assortment number (found on the bottom right by sunstreaker's foot) on the legit one reads: 5751/5750

The KO one linked has 5751/5766.

A few of the legit ones I've found on ebay seem to say 5751/5750 on the boxes...so...does that matter at all?

    Example: Legit

Yeah, I've tried digging through a google image search, and all the G1 boxes I have come across do say 5751/5750, and all the pics for the KO boxes say 5751/5766. Firehawc had a very good point in that the KO companies had to have pulled the number from somewhere so the 5751/5766 could have been an assortment number from a later production run.

Or maybe the KO companies just pulled it out of their asses   I hope someone can help verify because if somehow these toys in boxes end up in stores somewhere....that will help identify them if the legit assortment numbers are supposed to be 5751/5750

Auction ended after 21 bids for $152.50 for a $40 KO swoop.

Sadly, it doesn't look like ebay cares or they lack the resources to police their auctions.

5750 is the assortment number for the Autobot Cars Assortment #1 from 1984, which Sunstreaker was a part of:

    5751E 1 Sunstreaker
    5752E 1 Sideswipe
    5753E 1 Hound
    5754E 2 Mirage
    5755E 1 Bluestreak
    5756E 1 Prowl
    5757E 1 Jazz
    5758E 1 Ironhide
5759E 1 Ratchet (with or without red cross)
    5760E 1 Wheeljack
    5761E 1 Trailbreaker

5766 is the assortment number for the Autobot Cars Assortment #3 from 1985. Interestingly, it seems that Sunstreaker was never a part of this assortment.

Here's the breakdown for the case of 12 for 5766:

    5752E 1 Sideswipe
    5753E 1 Hound
    5754E 1 Mirage
    5756E 1 Prowl
    5758E 1 Ironhide
    5760E 1 Wheeljack
    5953F 2 Smokescreen
    5954F 2 Inferno
    5956F 2 Tracks

Sunstreaker is not included in the 5766 assortment. However, he was part of Assortment #2 (Assortment 5765):

    5751E 1 Sunstreaker
    5755E 1 Bluestreak
    5757E 1 Jazz
5759E 1 Ratchet (with or without cross)
    5761E 1 Trailbreaker
    5762E 1 Skids
    5951F 2 Red Alert
    5952F 2 Grapple
    5955F 2 Hoist

Now, this info is a bit dated, and I might be mistaken, but I think it is accurate. Concerning the KO, it does seem odd that they'd slap an incorrect combo of the two on the box (5751 paired with 5766) instead of just going with 5751/5765.

Regardless, these types of sellers suck (feigning ignorance or using vague descriptions to prey upon unsuspecting buyers). I'm glad a site like Might Gaine's is around to help people identify all the fakes out there.
