Now I have a machine gun. Ho, Ho, Ho.
Prove me wrong, members of TFW2005!
Hint: you can't
If I considered it a Christmas movie I would agree. As it is an action movie that happens to be set around Christmas time and not really about Christmas, or the season , I disagree.
Its one movie I can watch over and over again....
There's nothing to disagree about. Unless you would have been talking about part 4, in which case I would have teared your insides out through your mouth, any holiday.
I always liked Christmas with the Joker or Mask of the Phantasim
I dunno, Muppets Christmas Carol and A Christmas Story are technically better Christmas movies.
Still like Die Hard better though.
Now I have a gun.
HO HO HO.
Wait. What about A Christmas Story?
I double dog dare you to tell me that isn't a better Christmas movie.
It's totally a Christmas movie. But I think Scrooged is better. Depends on if you prefer being shot by barefoot Bruce Willis or beaten up by winged Carol Kane.
Alan Rickman is fantastic as the villain. Maybe more so than the the boss from It's a Wonderful Life, the bully from A Christmas Story or the Ghost of Christmas Future. Hmmm...you may actually be on to something.
ok ok, guys, enough. I will refer you to this link:
Christmas List Top 11
and skip to the 17:11 mark. I believe this will win the argument in favor of saying that Die Hard is the greatest Christmas movie of all time. >
Wasn't that list of the next best Christmas movies?
Finally people agree with me that Die Hard is one of the best Christmas movies.
it's a Christmas film regardless if it's mostly about John Mcclane fighting of a bunch of terrorists.
"Yipee-Ki-Yay Motherf**kers." Best line in the damn awesome film.
This . Its not a Christmas Movie. it a movie set at Christmas and a very awesome one.
I think this thread is sorely overlooking the Oscar-worthy magic that is Ernest Saves Christmas.
Needs more Blackadder's Christmas Carol and Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence.
I like Scrooged with Bill Murray.
I like Christmas Vacation as an actual Christmas movie. Die Hard, good as it is, is just set during Christmas. Other than the 'ho ho ho' bit, it could be set at any time. Could have just been a going-away party to have the people grouped there & the story would have been the same.
Christmas movies are films that the theme is about Christmas.
Die Hard is a action adventure film who's events just happens to fall on Christmas.
How ever, just taking place on Christmas does not make the film a Christmas film
Therefore Die Hard is not a Christmas movie.
So by the criteria you set up when nameing this thread, you have been proven wrong
Love the film thou.
...Does it really matter? This isn't a debate. Goddamn...
But this thread is making me want to watch DH again. It's still streaming on Netflix, right?
