NYC's own superheroes - NYPOST.com

Was Kick Ass inspired by this, or is it just some freaky coincidence? You be the Judge.

I'd like to see a Reality Show based on people brave (or stupid) enough to don spandex and fight crime for a day. Maybe we'll get to see people in weird costumes getting beat up by gangs or tasered by cops.

I wish I had people like this here. So I can laugh my ass off when they get arrested.

That's...stupid. They're not even cool superheroes. Because they're only doing it for the fame.

Isn't that what cops are for?
Call me when a horribly scarred wisecracking mercenary shows up....Then give me some directions to where he is so I can worship him.

^That.
Maybe this is some sort of publicity stunt the company is doing to get more people to see KickAss when it comes out. I can't wait it looks awesome :D

Overall that's actually a good thing that this "Life" character is doing. Major kudos to helping the homeless.

I think Stephen Colbert covered a bunch of those people a few years ago. I thought that Kick-Ass was inspired by that.

NYC cops are too busy directing traffic to have time to do any real crime fighting.

I know it looks extremely dorky, but I think it's a good thing.

That there are people willing to stand up (And stand out. Those costumes are rather flamboyant) is something we need in the world.

Maybe if more people decided to do things like this then people wouldnt get mugged or raped in public while people just ignore them.

Sure it's dangerous. At least they have the guts to dress like that and do something, however small or big.

The feeding of the hungry, volunteering at shelters, youth education and legislative advocacy are probably doing more for fighting crime than the viglilantism is, frankly.

But hey, at least they're trying to do something.

You want to help? Volunteer at soup kitchens and stuff like Aernaroth said.

And yeah, trying to clean up your neighborhood. I'm sure dressing like pillock and doing online interviews and shit will speed that right up.

None of their costumes are even cool. First rule of super-heroism: cool costume.

Not in the least. It's more that Kick-ass is going to bring a lot of these stories to light now. People like these inspired Kick-ass, not the other way round.

Okay, if I was to go and be a super-hero, I'd have to be a bit less cheesy than these guys. First, I'd not wear spandex - that's too damn cliche. Nor would I carry a sword or a gun; again, too cliche. What I would do is take my '77 Buick Electra, go Mad-Max on that sumbitch with armor and counter-measures, call myself "The Wheelman," and do whatever the hell I can to evade the cops. Think about it - vigilantes are criminals to an extent, and I'd want to get away.

I would cruise around Trenton with my "Buick Executioner" and proceed to mow down anyone doing ill-fated things. Would this really work? Hell No - none of this shit would ever work in real life. The car would be fun, but in the long run I'd do more damage than good. A lot of people's friends look like the typical bad-guy gangster criminal. While some of them may have done questionable things in the past, most of them are good people who strive for nothing more than to keep their families fed and clothed.

I think the only real-life superhero that could work would be a 5-star MMA fighter who masqueraded around as a street urchin. Even then, he'd only be able to fight low-lives that pester the homeless. Another real-life superhero concept may possibly be an elite hacker who publicizes illicit corporate activities and government conspiracies. With proof.

This is my opinion. Love it, hate it, and/or forget it.

~Z

PS: Remember that guy who made the Killdozer and rampaged that town? That vehicle would be pretty kick-ass for whatever the Executioner couldn't handle. Like a building :banghead: .

Apparently this dude "retired" from running around Salt Lake City as a superhero. There's also these guys: Feature | SLC Superheroes: The Black Monday Society keeps an eye out for street crime so you don’t have to

I had no idea these guys were running around town, honestly. And in Utah, of all places.

To quote a line from The Dark Knight:

Brian: What gives you the right? What's the difference between you and me?
Batman: I'm not wearing hockey pads.

These people are idiots and are going to eventually get hurt. You want to help out? Stop looking for attention and be a positive force in the community.
