Neverending story 'NeverEnding Story' gets new beginning total recall 'Total Recall' ready for revival And clue the movie! Gore Verbinski to Direct Clue | /Film
Sigh... I'll probably see the new Total Recall, just because I love the original. I don't even remember Never Ending Story the second one came out the year I was born, I think I may have seen it once...
Funny thing, I just saw clue for the 1st time a few months ago! LOL. I bought it from the $5 bin at Wal*Mart after reading some people here talkinga bout how good it was. It was pretty good for a movie from 1986. I don't feel it needs to be remade though. I never liked The Never Ending story. I think I MAY have seen it one time. Maybe the new one will be better....lol. Total Recal? Is the Gov Schwarzineger in it? LOL
Neverending Story, I can kiiinda see; modern effects and all that jazz. Total Recall would almost certainly be neutered PG-13 and decidedly less fun without the human shields and Michael Ironside's severed arms, though I would be up for something a little closer to the original PKD story. Someone's gone completely around the bend though if they think they can replicate/surpass the original Clue. There's no way in hell you could top the original's ensemble cast.
Not surprising. Hollywood has-in creative terms- fallen from the Golden Age (when everything was new & innovative) to the "Xerox Age" (where everything is copied & recreated).
I'm behind the whole NeverEnding Story remake if it's true to the source material. Michael Ende wanted his name removed from the original because it strayed so far from his book. In all fairness to the people behind the movie...his entire novel was three movies worth of material, maybe even more. It's a big ass book! I'd like to see them tell the entire story in a trilogy, rather than cram everything into a single flick. The original still holds a special place in my heart. A lot of good memories with those movies. I even have all three on DVD. (Yes, there was a third one, no it was simply based on characters and places, had nothing to do with Ende's work. A complete story all on it's own. Not a great one either, bought it for the nostalgia factor.) I've never seen Total Recall, so I can't comment on that one.
I don't know why people are always so against remakes. I would love to see a Clue movie where the mansion becomes more of a character in the movie(without being alive). Seems like some of it's potential was lost in the first movie.
