Just finished both the prequel & adaptation. What a wealth of info & background the movie didn't have time to show/explain.
The movie now makes much more sense.
Probably 1/3 of the questions asked here are clearly answered in the novels.

I read the prequel but not the adaptation. The prequel was cool and added to the overall story for me.

ok. Can you put a big book spoiler warning, and then clear up all the confusion? Tell us all the tidbits and questions and misperceptions we all have? Cos I bought the prequel book, but it was just mad boring, and I don't see myself finishing it or reading the other one.

the adaptation is one of the worst comics I have read in my life. IDW just sucks at movie adaptations (the animated movie one sucked too). the pacing is terrible, the whole thing feels rushed, and just... damn. what a pain to read.

oh yeah. there's two prequels and two adaptations both with the official title attached and they both conflict with each other.

    how great is that?

The coolest thing about the movie comci adaptation is the covers and art of the bots NOT the humans. The dialogue is barely similar to the movies. And there are some serious parts that are either left out or reduced to a small background corner of a panel (ala Jazz's *cough*). It's like they were going off a leaked script when they made it.

Dark Horse's adaptation of Star Wars: ROTS was far superior....FAR.

All in all I'm pretty disappointed in IDW's Transformers comics as a whole.

I have yet to read the Transformers novels though.
