See, thats the thing though. I LIKE the Twins. I think they are hysterical. So does my wife and she doesn't even like TFs
I can watch the beginning but after Soundwave's scene is done, it all goes down the pitt for me. I also tend to just speed to the action scenes, so it's actually not easy to watch the whole film anymore, jsut doens't flow right.
It is easier to watch when you have a big screen and a thumping surround sound, makes any movie better. Especially during the IMAX scences on bluray.
I stand by the idea that ROTF is a decent film. It just didn't pan out well in execution. It's got some good parts, and it's got some bad parts. The trouble is that the bad parts are reeeally bad.
i had a similar experience. i HATED HATED HATED it in the theaters and almost walked out with my girlfriend because of how damn long and drawn out it was. watching it again on bluray i really enjoyed it...though the second half i normally skip all the human crap still. its not that bad in all honesty reading the movie comics help me enoy it a little more too because of the things the movie didn't bother to tell. it was a nice little tie in that made parts seem more interesting then they appeared to be.
I think many of us could agree that it could have been a much better movie with simply more editing. It would shave off between 20-30 minutes of the movie and remove a lot of material that fans found to be so objectionable, in effect telling a tighter story with less to complain about. This is coming from somebody who is an apologist; I felt much of the movie we could do without.
Depends on the material. I did all three Lord of the Rings extended editions back to back just to prove how nerd-core I really am. Yea it took a whole day yet there was character and story there to keep me going. Even knowing how the films are going to end there is still that feeling of tension in the big scenes to keep some excitement. Several other long films or mini-series that I have enjoyed but they all had character and story going for them so I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Revenge of the Fallen just didn't have any characters I cared about so it was just one big long slog to some action scene that didn't really matter except to show off what ILM can do with CGI. Even characters I was interested in the first movie stopped being interesting or got ignored so there is nothing to grip me for a long drawn out Revenge of the Fallen.
wen i very first saw bays robot designs i have to admit i was against it since i am a G1 fan but after seeing the movies i have to say they r well done i have the first and second movies on dvd and have watched them countless times and im anxious for next july btw i also have seen gijoe and thought it was well done
It coulda been better, but it's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. People exaggerate that there's a bunch of plot holes when there's really a bunch of rushed plot points. Jetfire does explain what Energon is (life-blood of Transformers), as well as why the Primes didn't kill The Fallen (albeit weakly written, that he was stronger). I guess my only gripe with the film was the inclusion of characters with great potential that get cast aside easily: -Devastator should have dealt with ALL the [living] Autobots (first deals with the Twins, then he takes on the others), then sensing victory, heads towards the Pyramid, but then gets taken down by the rail gun. -Personally, I loved The Fallen's design, and Tony Todd's voice was PERFECT. The Fallen just didn't really do anything, so that leads me to this - what would have made The Fallen MUCH better is if he showed up at the Forest Battle after Optimus kills Grindor, says, "You fight well against my disciple and his army...LET'S SEE HOW WELL YOU FIGHT AGAINST ME!" and whups up on Optimus (there'd be a moment where Optimus would whip out his Ion Blaster, The Fallen would whip out his staff, swipe the gun with it and shatter it). Then after Optimus takes the ass-whuppin' of a lifetime, Megatron sneaks up and kills Optimus.
As much as I like the action scenes of the film, and they are good action scenes, very good, the human element will forever ruin it from being a good movie Sam's parents ( who Michael Bay seems to think are just hilarious) are painful to watch every second they're on screen. (Oddly enough, they weren't as bad in the first film, but ROTF, they are such an annoying presence, they make me want to kick someone's teeth in) Sam is also particularly bad, not because he's trying to be comedic, but because he comes off as such a whiny bitch (so much so that I actually have newfound RESPECT for Spike of the G1 cartoon) Not to mention the fact that the film does not have a shred of intelligent humor, it always resorts to grade school shit, and jokes that would make a slapstick film director from the 1940's sigh in disgust. I didn't laugh once during the entire film, especially not at Amos n'Andy...excuse me I mean Skids and Mudflap But from a Hasbro point of view the movie appealed to me in the sense they wanted to. I liked the scenes with their robots, and the fighting. Other than that the movie is garbage. And no I'm not trolling, I just don't think it was a good movie. However, with the Rifftrax commentary track, it's fun to watch the whole way through I also will admit I liked the movie designs of the constructicons, even Scavenger (or demolisher or whatever they call him). I liked their unique design that clearly set them apart from one another. Devastator himself was pretty meh...he looked like a giant metallic demon infant, but the constructies themselves were solid
there's nothing like watching it at home with the volume turned all the way up. i really enjoyed rotf. a couple of months ago i sat down after work and watched all three tf movies definetly a great night.
First time I watched it was in theatres, in IMAX. F#ckin' hated it. Second time, I was on a plane and figured I'd give it a second chance. Even with the ability to fast forward to the "good parts" I still hated it. Just not for me I guess. Praying TF3 is even half-decent, and I'll buy all three when the blu-ray box set comes out (you know its gonna happen!) Damn dude, I've been meaning to do the same thing but need to find a day where I can plunk down for 12 hours straight! I have my LOTR Extended Editions boxed set from 2004 collecting dust still wrapped in the plastic! One day, one day...
I watched ROTF again the other day. Its the second time i've seen it and again i enjoyed it. Some parts could be better... my major gripe now was watching it knowing that the whole "love" story was a waste of time that could have been devoted to another story especially since megan isnt even in the third movie.
I remember reading something about Shia Lebouf saying the movie had problems due to the writer's strike, and he said something to the effect of: Because of the strike, we couldn't really develop the story and the characters, it was just big robots fighting on screen ( that's not an actual quote but its basically what he said) Pssst...Hey...Hey Shia...That's why we come to see the movies... It's not about you, douchebag, it's about the big CGI robots
I love the movie, always have. The only thing that disappointed me was the Fallen, he didn't really do anything. The humor didn't bother me, but I can see how it brought the movie down for some. I still don't know what these "plot holes" are that people are talking about.
I think the first half of the movie is great, right up to (and including) the scene where Optimus is killed. After that scene the movie begins to fall apart, in my opinion.
