    Hi Guys,

My name's Chris and I'm new to the TFW2005 boards.
I'd like to ask you all for some advice when it comes to scratch-building weapons from polymer clay (specifically Staedler FIMO).
I'm looking to make an additional weapon for Masterpiece Grimlock and, having checked out some of the how-to's, I'm wondering if it would be better to have a separate plastic 5mm post handle (e.g. like Jin's 'crazy straw' handles) rather than one made of polymer clay itself?

    Cheers,

    Chris

well based from experience i would recommend that you separate the 5mm post from the weapon your going to mold, this would make it sturdier and easier to fix in case of breakage. also this would pevent things from not fitting into the fist holes. also welcome to the Radicons.

Thanks for the advice and welcomes, guys. Apologies for the mis-thread.

I'm heeding your advice and going the separate handle route.
After a fruitless hunt for 5mm ABS plastic straws, I had a brainwave and, thanks to a helpful barmaid, I managed to get a hold of black plastic cocktail stirrer (for frees, cheers luv) it turned out to be about 4.5mm or so but the ol' Grimster can grip it just fine. So on to Phase I - The Ammo!

You can also get styrene and metal rods 5mm thick for a low cost.
