Can't...stop..laughing...asthma...can't breathe..... May I please use that as a sig!!!?? Granted Ravage is a robot, I still find it irrelevant for him to talk. Just because he is a transformer doesn't mean he has to have a voice function or capability. He could easily communicate using holo projection or link up. BUT I think for movies sake I wouldn't be surprised if he did he a voice just to have things move at a steady pace and not have Soundwave explain things for him all the time.
Feel free. I suppose it all comes down to what his role in the film would be. If he's just going to be chasing humans like an animal then he'll have little need to speak. Unless they play up a hunter aspect of him and he gets off on stalking his victims and talking to them as they try to hide. As long as he doesn't gibber madly like Frenzy did, I don't mind either way.
True. Also, most of the Cons spoke in that garbled Cybertronian voice in the first movie, if at all, and had their dialogue translated by subtitles. I think that would suit Ravage fine. QFT. zmog
I know I shouldn't, but I think that would be so funny if he actually did speak that in the movie. Genuinely, I'd love it, though I suspect I'd be the only one. So forget my previous stance on this subject: I now want a lolcat Ravage!
In all fanboy honesty, if he does speak I hope it's only in Cybertronian, but sounds more guttural and throaty--like an animal growling.
I'm not really sure if Ravage should or not. i know Ravage spoke during the G1 comicbook series, but I'm used to him snarling and growling. But if he doesn't sound like Frenzy, then I might accept it.
He never really spoke in the G1 cartoon granted, but he did speak in the G1 marvel comic book (in fact he was quite an eloquent, sophisticated character), and in Beast Wars (the Beast Wars Ravage was specifically stated to be the G1 Ravage re-formatted as a Predecon.) And his original tech specs, whilst not directly ascribing to him the power of speech, portray him as a very intelligent and cunning character, so it's logical to assume he could communicate with the others at a level above snarls and growls. So the G1 cartoon is actually the oddity, the only time Ravage was just a snarling drone. However, the cartoon version was undoubtedly the most widely-known version of the character, especially with the general public, and so will probably have the most influence on the movie Ravage. IMHO.
This is true. In MTMTE, for one time only, he spoke while in cassette mode. It's one of many G1 things that I pretend never happened.
Correction... in the G1 cartoon, he didn't speak. I'm tired of people assuming that their relationship with the Cartoon supersedes all other aspects of G1. The cartoon misinterpreted, fabricated, distorted or dumbed down lots of aspects of G1, and was not the sole medium for the property. Ravage is just one such victim. Well said. And unfortunately correct. Bay will probably just go for the most common perception of the character... not necessarily the correct perception. But then, different universe, different characters, different rules... blah blah. I would actually be delighted to see Ravage speaking in the movie, even though I'm sure he will just be used as a mindless monster. It would be much more original to play him as decepticon with equal status to the others. Again, I'll point out though... did Bonecrusher really speak, besides identifying himself that once, in subtitles? He was as much beast as Ravage will be, I suspect (and when I say "beast", I mean "poorly developed character" ). zmog
In my opinion, it don't matter if he talks or not. As long as he does his growling and whatnot, and Soundwave has him sit next to him, and pets him!
