Thanks, The_Black_Sheep and charsdc2, much appreciated! Searched for a long time for the right display cases for the right price. Got a great deal on the large prototype one. The majority of the prototypes were a 'right place right time' situation spanning the past 15 years. The rest originated from various collectors and auction sites. A real mixture of sources. Something, which, to keep on-top of is a full-time job! Ras
This collection is beyond belief. I can't believe one person has managed to gather all those items under one roof. I've been perusing the blog as well. Very interesting, very informative. Thank you very much, thank you very much indeed! That Astrotrain Proto that is your favorite, when was it made? I've heard tell that he was initially intended for the Diaclone Car Robots line, but instead eventually made it to the Transformers series instead. I've seen another train prototype that looked like it may have been a precursor to this one, I can't remember where I saw it now, I wish I could. Anyway, thank you again!
Sorry for the late response Billprestonesq and thanks for the kind words. That Astrotrain prototype would have been made in '84. The only thing to truly suggest that it was intended for Diaclone release is the fact that everything from the first two years of Transformers already existed in either production or concept format. Couple that with the style of design and factor in the other triple changers that were released as part of the Diaclone line, and you have a pretty solid argument for that being the case. I know the train prototype of which you speak and aside from being a locomotive; it is completely different. Having thought about it for years, I'm not at all certain that it is any sort of precursor to Astrotrain. While that would be the natural conclusion to draw, there is a high probability of it being something else entirely.
There really aren't any words that can describe the sheer awesomeness of this collection. Seriously amazing stuff dude, just so much goodness in every pic
Always been thinking about this, thanks That is all I need to know, three Diaclone triple-changer seems poetic & perfect
