'Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale' Trailer HD

Release Date: December 3, 2010 (limited)

Plot Summary: It's the eve of Christmas in northern Finland and an "archeological" dig has just unearthed the real Santa Claus. But this particular Santa isn't the one you want coming to town. When all the local children begin mysteriously disappearing, young Pietari and his father Rauno, a reindeer hunter by trade, capture the mythological being and attempt to sell Santa to the misguided leader of the multinational corporation sponsoring the dig. Santa's elves, however, will stop at nothing to free their fearless leader from captivity. What ensues is a wildly humorous nightmare - a fantastically bizarre polemic on modern day morality.

You better not breathe, you better not move. You're better off dead, I'm telling you dude, Santa Claus is gunning you down!

Heh, might be fun. Considering that Santa is supposed to be a supernatural being in command of an army of elves (go read up on traditional elves) he'd actually be a pretty serious threat if someone were to really hack him off.

Not to mention there's been a good deal of advertisement of that movie over here in Finland. Just to add for confirmation. :)

Hollywood Dreams of a "Rare Exports" Remake

    Source: ShockTillYouDrop
    November 30, 2010

The Hollywood sharks are a predictable lot. They're already circling another import to "Americanize."

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale opens in limited release this Friday from Oscilloscope Laboratories. In a morning interview with director Jalmari Helander, he told us, "There's lot of conversation about the remake right now. We're seeing what's happening. It would be interesting to see an American, more mainstream version [of Rare Exports]."

    Shocker.

The Finnish film tells of an archeological dig that exhumes Santa Claus frozen in a block of ice. Things go awry, however, when children begin to go missing from the nearby town. Terrific little flick.

Reminds me of the movie 'Sint', which is currently in theatres here. It's about the character of Saint Nicolas - our Dutch version of Santa Claus (which Santa Claus is based on,actually), who comes back from the dead not to make children happy but to kill.

Oh, except, this Rare Export movie actually looks good.
