I figured he had already gotten the statue he deserved: a tombstone.

If his kid wasn't there to see it and if he wasn't a firefighter then I'm guessing there wouldn't be a statue for him.

When did a freak accident due to losing your balance become an act of stupidity?

I feel bad for his family, but then a statue just feels awkward as well.

I'd pay to see a statue like that.

    Hell, I'd fund it.

So...when a Firefighter dies because of a freak accident having his child watch him fall to his death, you guys think it's a fail to make something to honor him?

Well, I think a statue is a bit extravegant. Perhaps lifetime season tickets for his son to all home games would be a bit more appropriate.

I mean, with due respect, he didn't die in the line of duty, or enacting his duty as a firefighter in off hours or even doing something classically heroic. He just made the same sort of stuff up that any of us could make. The biggest tragedy is that his son saw all this, and that will never go away.

My respects to a good father, my condolances to a shattered family, but a statue is a bit much.

And once again...another failed attempt at humor... This guy fell trying to snag a foul ball(presumably for his kid), lost his balance and died, while his son watched no less. Another guy about a week later, at the home run derby, was a drunk and standing on a table, THAT'S NOT INTENDED TO BE STOOD ON, stumbled and nearly fell. The first guy had my sympathy, the second one didn't as much. If you wanna make jokes about the dumbass drunk, go ahead, but this guy doesn't deserve to be poked fun at.
