    Overheard between two Hasbro designers at BotCon 2007...

    Hasbro thought about and inquired Takara-Tomy on producing the unproduced TransTech Starscream toy to be in the last wave of the Cybertron toyline. However, during the time that the mold was shipped from Hasbro to Takara-Tomy, the mold went missing (not being shipped for production but for the usual mold-shipping purposes).

    Hence its absence during the Hasbro tour in 2007.

    To be more specific:

    Me: So why wasn't TransTech on tour, considering how much the fanboys went nuts about it?
    Hasbro #1: We talked about putting the Starscream mold in Cybertron, and we had shipped the mold off to Takara-Tomy.
    Hasbro #2: We couldn't get it back for the tour because Takara-Tomy lost the mold.

    If this is true then I'm not happy. Before Seibertron went down I had started a discussion thread on whether or not the next TF series should be Transtech. I want these designs in my collection and I want the Beast Wars story arc to continue.

    Gaaah! :(  I would have loved a toy of that, either as part of Cybertron or as a 'what could have been' in Universe 25th Anniversary.

    Think about how many molds they have. Like, not just for Transformers, but also for other toylines.

    Now imagine how there might be the occasional disappearance.

    This would still make a nice addition to the 25th Anniversary line. I'm sure the computer designs and sketches weren't loss. And if you're reading this, Hasbrofolk...get back to work!
