Just letting everyone know that the Region 4 release of Beast Wars season 2 on DVD is now out. It's done by Madman, and you can order it from their site. A quick run down of what's included:

SEVEN NEW AND EXCLUSIVE EPISODE COMMENTARIES WITH BOB FORWARD, LARRY DITILLIO AND BEN YEE!

New and exclusive hour long interview with Bob Forward, Larry Ditillio and Ben Yee.

    David Kaye convention panel

    Gary Chalk convention panel

    3D Animation tests

    Toy Gallery

    Character profiles

Here's some pictures and a quick review:

The set comes in a shiny reflective cover thing, that is very snazzy:

    And the back:

It looks excellent and matches the season 1 release nicely:

So, if you pull off the cover you'll see what lies beneath!

The back of the case lists episodes and features etc:

Open it up and you'll find a little booklet and all the discs. The artwork in the background is the 3 Megs cover from IDW's BW issue 1, it's sweet and matches the 3 Prime's cover used in the season 1 release. The case has 3 discs in it, but room to hold more, which is good as the Season 1 release had 4 discs but the same size case so it looks even when they're lined up.

    Here's the booklet:

A quick look at the inside, it has brief summaries of each episode as well as a little 2 page essay written by Ben Yee:

I would guess that a lot of people want to know which episodes have commentaries, so here you go:

    COMMENTARIES LIST:

*Other Visits pt 1 (Larry Ditillio + Ben Yee)
*Other Visits pt 2 (Larry Ditillio + Ben Yee)
*Code of Hero (Bob Forward + Ben Yee)
*Transmutate (Bob Forward + Ben Yee)
*The Agenda pt 1 (Bob Forward + Ben Yee)
*The Agenda pt 2 (Bob Forward + Ben Yee)
*The Agenda pt 3 (Bob Forward + Ben Yee)

A very impressive list there, the season 1 set only has 3 episode commentaries (Possesion, Other Voices pt 1 and 2).

I believe that season 3 might have commentaries with voice actors and animators, but I'm not sure. Eitherway, we'll know when it comes out around October / November.

Anyway, in closing, it's an excellent release. Go buy it now.

Wait a minute.... Australia is region 4?

I thought only Latin America (from Mexico to Argentina) was region 4.

Spotted that collection at JB Hi-fi and HMV at the end of last month, looks promising! I'm intending to save up for it!

Hi there. It's me, Blitz, and I've risen from the dead because this question has been nibbling on my brain for the past year.

I want these DVDs. I really, really want them... but only if I can watch them. So, does anybody out there -any of you tech-heads- know if an American DVD player can play Region 4 DVDs? And if not, how can I view them short of buying a whole new player? I don't want to order 2 seasons worth of Beast Wars and not be able to enjoy it.

    Thanks in advance.:D

It depends on your dvd player - some are multiregion and some also have the ability to be 'unlocked' making them multiregion. If you have a computer with a DVD drive they normally come with a limited number of "region swaps" but I'm sure there must be a way to extend these out to infinity.

What make / model is your player?

Looks very nice, but I haven't even been able to find the first series yet.

Ive seen the first Series at JB-HiFi as well as Target, not sure about the other places (Myers, K-mart, Big W, David Jones etc etc).

I guess persistance (and having the cash ready at all times) helps out.

I have a Phillips DVD 622 player. I also have a DVD player in my laptop, but I have no idea how to activate a "region swap."
