Has anyone played this on Live? I just stumbled upon the demo. I used to love Type on my old Master System and then the releases on various system, but this version takes the cake. The coolest feature is literally switching from classic game to 3d Rendered update on the fly. You press the Y button and the game dissolves from old pixel graphics to 3D mode. The gameplay is spot on, and it's two players coop. Definitely picking this one up

"ok" is the best one can hope for with R-Type :D

I remember playing on my Master System, but my parents wanted to go to church, so I had to leave the game on Pause because I had gotten so far on it.

The switching between old school and new graphics on the go is sick!

Don't worry, I said the same thing. And it's a nice rendition too.

It's pretty frikn NICE. A must dl for RType fans.
I love how you can switch from 2D to 3D on the fly, without interrupting the gameplay.
Shows that the controls are as tight as ever

Hmmm, I've been wanting a good ole side scrolling shooter for a while. Might just get this. I got Ikagura (or however the hell it's spelt) but I didn't dig it so much.

A friend of mine feels it shouldn't exist, mainly because he's a purist and this R-type isn't done by Irem.

I think he's got a sore spot with R-type because the company he used to work for (and hated) did the GB/GBC conversions.

R-Type Final is probably my favorite shooter ever. I haven't heard of this one.

This. I remember having R-Type on the Sega Master System (hard as hell), and Super R-Type and R-Type 3: The Third Lightning for the SNES.

But yeah, the graphics are slick.

Holy crap, either I suck (impossible :p ) or this game is fricken(s) difficult. I went through it on infinity mode, just to blow through it and I could not keep any upgrades. The 3D to 2D transistion is neato, but I like to keep it on 3D. I'm not retro enough, heh.

Hey Windcharger? Did ya get this for the 360, if so, we should COOP the crap out of it.

EDIT: On a different note. Anyone ever check out R-Type Command for the PSP? It sounded interesting and considered buying it. It's basically R-Type tactics.

Command was actually pretty fun, and it had a cool twist halfway through the game. If you like strat games, and especially if you like R-Type, i'd say pick it up.

I'm trying to justify the price tag for Dimensions as it being 2 different games, but 15 bucks is just a price point on XBL I hate to support. The graphics and 3d/2d conversion is cool and all, but I don't think that warrants each game being so much.
