One of the greatest public intellectuals of our time died from esophageal cancer on Thursday. May his legacy live on...
    TIME article.

The typo is shameful, I know.

I happened to stumble across the news story about an hour after it was first posted and was quite shocked by it. I mean, not shocked in that it's surprising that he died; he's been dying for the last couple years really; but, I guess, shocked because it happened only a couple days after I started getting really interested in his discussions.
I can't agree with every opinion he's had but for the most part, if somebody were to ask me to explain my worldview with one word, I'd probably say "Hitchens".
I'm not much of a drinker but cheers anyway.

I loved that he had a great sense of humour about his cancer too. In one video I watched recently, after being asked how he was doing, he replied with "Well I'm dying...but...so are all of you."
