Why would Rhino not release them? Were they supposed to fix a 20 year old cartoon before they brought it out for DVD? As for Megatron not shrinking and attaching to Starscream in jet mode, I never really thought of that one as an animation error -just a different size for him. I figured that Megatron could transform into a gun and then: 1. Not shrink 2. Shrink so he fit a Transformer's hand 3. Shrink so he fit a human's hand. Soundwave was guilty of that too. His alt mode's size matched who he was interacting with. Anyone got a screen capture of Shockwave holding Shockwave?
I mean I can't believe Rhino released them with all the animation errors they added. Do a side-by-side comparison with the old series and the "remastered" and you'll be amazed.
Really? I don't have the old series to do a side by side with. I know Rhino added some sound effects but I didn't know they had more animation errors than the series really had. I certainly remember Soundwave flying as a cassete recorded.
They didnt add any errors. sometimes they didnt have access to the broadcast masters, and had to get earlier copies of the episodes. that being said, that move only introduced a handful of errors. I have the entire series taped off TV from the 80's, and the versions that aired had terrible, terrible errors too. people just blame rhino so they don't have to accept how bad the original show was in terms of quality control.
Some of those really made me laugh. Like Skids flying off with the Decepticons. And the amazing size changing Decepticons. There's a great one in season 3 where Broadside was holding Galvatron, and Galvatron looked like he should have been fighting on the side of Sauron or something - he had real goblin looking proportions going. Carnage in C Minor is great for animation errors. From everything like Bruticus fighting alongside Soundwave and Onslaught to Brawn resurrecting himself to fight for the Decepticons, that one has it all!
It's been a while, but doesn't Ultra Magnus hold two Constructicons in his hands in that one and the Constructicons are tiny -smaller than Daniel? I might have the episode wrong, but I know that happened. He slammed them together, too.
They certianly did. I remember a site (might have been Zobovor's, I'll see if I can find it) that did comparisons of the broadcast and Rhino versions. Rhino had some pretty bad screw-ups on their part. EDIT: Found it.
No, you misunderstand. rhino did not add errors. they just went with earlier versions of the episodes. and being earlier versions, some additional errors were in them. so rhino didnt add any errors. the show aired with a shitload of errors anyways.
I get it! So Rhino was using the stock from before some of the errors were fixed. But, G1 had so many errors I wonder how they decided to fix some and not others. I don't remember all of them, but I certainly remember Starscream changing colors and lots of size discrepancies from watching it on TV.
yeah wow i didnt realize how many errors was in the show!!! But G1 will always be my fav no matter what!!!!!
I don't want to get into a big thing about this, since it's not really the topic at hand, but I'm most amused by that because it makes mass shifting look like a voluntary thing as opposed to an automatic function, like some proponents of it say.
