Well, I was listing off places that are generally known for having sweatshops to my friend, as we where talking about Transformers, and whatnot.

So, I listed Japan off on this list, because as far as I know there are quite a few Japanese sweetshops, but he asked for proof...and i'm running short. All i've done is googled it, with low result.

Would anybody care to point me in the right direction?

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of China. Japan is much more developed, and their cost of living is quite high.

I simply can't see sweatshops existing in Japan, where even crossing guards get a comfortable amount of salary.

^What they said. Japan doesn't even have the immigrant population that sustains underground sweatshops in the US.

You mean illegal immigrants. Japan has a decent amount of legal immigrants. Mostly Brazilians and Koreans.

India, Taiwan & Mexico have earned a sad reputation for this sort of thing too, and they're by no means the only ones. However, I wouldn't judge an entire country badly because of these things.
