    1. Did you strip the paint off, or just paint over their existing paint?

    2. Was it necessary to remove any pins on either? I would really like to avoid that if possible.

The soon to be Nemesis and Thundercracker are awaiting your answers!

edit: I'm an idiot. The title should read "Quick Q for those that repainted UM/SW".

I strip all the paint off of mine and lightly sand all the pieces.
At first I didnt remove pins but I do now (spray painted a Ultra Magnus and the joints were very tight and some cracked......it was my first try)

What did you use to strip the paint? I have paint thinner and I think a bottle of 90% Alcohol somewhere, and probably acetone. I'm just worried I'll melt a part. I went to Target today to pick up a third UM/SW 2pack, but they were all gone, so I have one shot at getting these guys right.

I use rubbing alcohol 90% and let it soak for about 15 min. The blue on ultra magnus takes forever to come off just let it soak a little longer. I went to Target today and tried to get another 2 pack and they were gone also. sucks

And nobody wants a stripper with a bad figure. :p

Anyway. Having kitbashed a Prime, I can tell you that you'll want to tap out the pins that hold on the pieces the fairing gun mounts to. Removing the pin that holds the head on will make painting a lot easier, too. That one takes a soldering iron to remove.

I was able to get away with not removing the pins that hold the cab sides on and together.

TFMaster made a stellar Alt. Menasor. Its fully articulated, can stand on its own, and the motormaster's alt mode looks nothing like prime's. I hope to make a classics one, but I still have to get a pair of cars and a third op/mag body first. I got a mirage and a hotrod today for it, $5 each... that'll be done after the two I already mentioned.
