    Quick Nintendo DS Lite question:

I do not own a DS system yet, but in regards to the DS Lite system,

Do DS games work with GBA games?

What I mean is, say for example Pokemon games:

By inserting a Pokemon GBA cart and a DS Pokemon cart into a DS Lite, can one trade Pokemon from their GBA game to their DS Pokemon game?

Since the DS Lite has slots for each a DS cart and a GBA cart, are there any DS and GBA games that work and play off each other through certain in-game features?

Kinda like during the GBA & Gamecube days, where hooking up your GBA Metroid Fusion to Gamecube's Metroid Prime netted you the Fusion skin for use in Metroid Prime.

The only thing I know about that would work with both slots is the DS Metrioid Pinball game. The GBA slot is used for a rumble pack.

Yes, I too know of that, but only if you have the GBA cart shaped rumble pack accessory (which I still see kicking around in Wal-Mart's Video Game section).

Thanks for your help guys. I'm still curious if there is any type of interaction between games.

from what my Pokemon Platinum says you can use a few of the GBA Games in the bottom slot to trade onto Platinum. if you enter the pokemon park (or whatever its called) and want to trade with older games itll ask you to insert the game into the bottom slot

    so yes

I remember vaguely that there were a couple of early DS games that unlocked special stuff if you had the earlier version of the game in the GBA slot?

Or am I imagining things? Why would you need to know this though?

There were a few games that used the GBA slot in conjunction with the DS game slot, Guitar Hero is most prominent, a Piano tutorial game, that Hideo Kojiima Vampire game stuff like that.

Hmm. After reading the DS's wiki entry

Nintendo DS - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I wonder what games they were...

    Edit
Doh. FOund a big list, but it done broke the boards when I tried to post it. Will try and post a more board friendly version.

    Lesse if this works...

I know for Pokemon games, you can transfer pokemon from your 3rd gen games to your 4th gen games, although it's one way. Also, if you play the DS game as normal with a GBA game inserted, certain pokemon will show up in certain areas that wouldn't show up before.

Edit: Whoops, completely missed the pokemon section in that quote up there. Well now I look stupid.
Well, more so than usual. :lol

I was going to post about the Advance Wars, Castlevania, and FFT ones, but that full list is good to know. It's certainly something I wish had been implemented in more games!
