Did 616 Hank Pym ever slap around the Wasp like Ultimate Hank or is he just sort of a jerk?

He has in just about every universe. He's a dick.

So yeah, 616 has "wifebeating" on his resume

Dang, that messes up something I was working on, but I think I can salvage it. Thanks.

I like the irony of him looking to redeem himself as a backhands his wife.

Yea, when Hank was Yellowjacket, he was pretty much a dick. I first found this out in Avengers Forever. Watching one version of Hank stare in confusion at asshole Hank was pretty funny.

Also a fun note. Hank is back in his Yellowjacket costume for Civil War. Conincidence? I think not.

So it was as Yellowjacket he did his wife beating and not as Giant Man?

Well, be fair. His wife is Janet Van Dyne. I'm sure we'd all want to belt her one at least once. :p

(Switchblade is in no way endorsing spousal abuse. He finds that practice to be a very bad thing and feels that anyone who does such an act should be roughly sodomized with an un-sanded baseball bat)

If i'm not mistaken, wasn't he actually rather nutso during that point in time? A side effect of his prolonged contact with Pym Particles I believe. I could be wrong though.

Hmmm, that could explain his spouse abuse tendancies...but I'm puzzled why Marvel made him that way? Did they have no idea what to do with the character?

I remember reading some of the older Marvel stuff (via trades, Marvel Masterworks) and they seem to be a lovey-dovey couple.

Pym suffers from mood disorders, Yellow jacket was originaly a spilt personilty. Ultron is based off his brain patterns. Avengers Forever explains a lot of this. To get the gist of alot of Avengers stuff read the Perez, Busiek run on the book. It explained and fixed a lot of continutiy the was screwed up, till Bendis came in and threw it out the window.

I've read Avengers #1, and I seem recall that even back then the couple seemed a bit borderline. Marvel.com Digital Comics rock!

I think it's a universal law... Pym MUST be a dick or he is not Pym at all. It would be like making Scott Summers into Wolverine. Just one of those things ^_^

I thought 616 Pym was dead, I mean he was Ant-Man too right? Last I saw of Ant-Man he was a smeer under a crashed Skree (or was it Krull) ship in Disasembaled. Did he come back to life? Or was that Ant-Man some one else?

That Ant-Man was Scott Lang. Father of the now Young Avenger Cassie Lang. Pym hasn't been Ant Man in a long, long time.

Ahm but Ant-Man has recently returned in X-Statix Presents: Deadgirl where he helped the former X-Statix member, Doc Strange, and a few other dead Marvelites take down the Pitiful One, Mysterio, Kraven, and another former X-Statix member.
