Apart from the loosey-goosey leg joints, the real problem I had with the Alt. Prime mold is the shoulders. No, I don't mind the shoulder towers at all, it's just how junky they look. The bumper pieces just flip down at arbitrary angles, leaving all sorts of unsightly gaps and simply just not looking all too good.

    Luckily, that's easily fixed.

First, unscrew the little black tabs that hold the bumper halves onto his shoulders. You'll find that they're mounted on a peg shaped like this:

It should be pretty obvious what needs to be modded, but in case I have to spell it out for you, just carve off the tab that I circled in yellow. Once you're confident that none of that tab remains, just screw it back together. Simple as that.

What this mod allows you to do now is swivel those black tabs around, giving you the ability to close up those shoulder towers much more attractively.

    Goes from this:

    To this:

The new mobility of those black tabs doesn't hamper transformation at all. You'd think there'd be alignment issues, but there's actually a molded stopper in there that you can swing the black tabs against, lining them up perfectly for vehicle mode. It's like this part of the transformation was intended all along, but then modifications were made for stability reasons, or something. Doesn't seem to be causing any problems for me *shrug*.

I did this the first day I got mine. I highly recommend it. You don't even have to shave that tab off. All you have to do is loosen the screw enough that the black ovals can raise over the tab and rotate. It makes the 'bot look tons better.

Hey that does look somewhat better. All these little Alt Prime improvements add up. We'll have him lookin really cool eventually lol

Gonna try this on mine. Just hope it does'nt affect his vehicle mode any. Can't see why it would though

Looks good! The towers are still a bit awkward, but that looks like it'll clear up some room around the head as well; I'll be doing that this weekend.

Will have to try it, any ideas on how to keep the bumper part from falling OUT of the clear part? Mine're looser than a 3 dollah ho...

Use small tweezer and carefully peel back the black plastic pieces that connect the bumper to the clear part, that would make the piece fit better

or you could dab on some superglue, or clear nailpolish, or future floor finish.

Thankfully, my Prime didn't have that particular problem. In fact, when I transform mine, I do so by grabbing the bumper pieces and swivelling them around. Never had 'em come off when I didn't want them to.

That's a cool mod. Here's another (I think). I saw this image over at the Japanese image board. It shows the legs extended further than I've ever seen in any photo. And it wasn't in the customs section either. Could someone with Alt Prime possibly try it out?

I've had a look - for a start. the way the stop tabs are placed inside the legs means they would have to be filed down for the
legs to be capable of extending that far without disassembly.

Secondly, for the legs to stay at that position, and for the toy not to collapse down on them, there would need to be a new set of tabs added.

The person who did this may have filed the tabs down very slowly - leaving just enough in the way of tolerances for there to be some friction, but without considerable internal mods to the legs, it seems it would never be stable.
