Just want to see what responses people have for these questions.

    (1) What do you think about Frenzy not being with Soundwave?

    (2) What do you think about Bonecrusher not being a Constructicon like in
    G1?

    (3) Do you want to see Bruticus in the live-action series, if so shouldn't Brawl come back alive?

    (4) Which character would you change or remove in the movies?

    My opinion:
    (1) Fine, but Frenzy is kind of a wierd character in the films.

    (2) Don't care really, the name really suits a fierce Decepticon like him.

(3)I love the Combaticons, military vehicles are so cool! Combaticons have become even more boss in Fall of Cybertron. However, I wonder if the movie writers and producers were going to put Bruticus in the movie, maybe Brawl can back to life.

    (4) I say some of the annoying humans mostly, change Frenzy's thin look and remove Devastator's wrecking balls.

    2. i am fine with it, this is a diff continuity thus they can do whatever the heck they want
    3. No, they can just replace Brawl or just have a diff character with the same name, they didnt had a bonecrusher with the constructicons in ROTF
    4. none, i like them all!

    (1) Meh, I don't think much of it...Just wish Rumble was in the Movies.

    (2) It's an interesting take on a Combiner Transformer, gives the sense that they can be badass even then they are alone.

    (3) Only if either Abominus or Menasor are also in the movies

    (4) The Twins, make them more likable

    1) Well, originally, Blackout was supposedly meant to be Soundwave, and you can see elements of that in his design. So the way that frenzy ended up being used pretty much made sense within the context of the film and it's development, and I didn't really mind that they changed around how the characters related to each other (if anything, that was probably a good idea in a number of cases). Also, it allowed for us to see Laserbeak with Soundwave in DOTM, I suppose, and I liked how Laserbeak turned out.

    2) Same name, different character. I guess I minded about as much as I minded Silverbolt in the Beast Wars show not being a member of the aerialbots, which is to say, not at all.

    3) Not necessarily, I mean, poor Brawl already had two names (and one of them got reused in the next film), he had his time on screen, and I don't see much sense in bringing him back. Resurrection, unexplained "re-use", and recolor characters with no discernible differences in characterization are already a big problem in the Bay films, and I see no way to make it worse. As for seeing Bruticus, I haven't been too fond of how the Bayverse has approached combiners so far, so I could go without seeing him (especially since he just got some nice attention in Fall of Cybertron). If they could figure out a good way to fit him in and use him well in the film, sure, I wouldn't mind seeing Bruticus. And he wouldn't have to have the same members as G1. Bayverse Devastator didn't, after all.

    4) Every character who was onscreen essentially just to sell toys, and who received a superfluous role should either be changed such that they actually have a characterization that's relevant and purposeful within the story, or removed completely. I suppose I'd make an exception so that the Decepticons could have a few "cannon fodder" members, but even they could be given something of a character, if the story was approached in a different way. I'd probably also have treated the twins in a completely different manner.

    THE CONS ARE DEAD!!!

thanks to the Nazibots(Autobots) extinction agenda. and their evil leader Adolf (optimus) Prime.

    okay onto the answers. lol

    1. didn't matter since Frenzy was in name only.

    2. same as 1.

    3. Bruticus still would have died super quick so i'm glad he wasn't used.

    4. I wouldn't have done anything except keep the character line up consistant through all the movies which they obviously didn't at all.

    1) I'm fine with it. I like that Barricade had his own mini con.

    2) I think it's fine. Not everything has to be exactly the same as G1 after all.

    3) Absolutely! I really want to see Bruticus come on to the big screen. Preferably as an undefeatable menace that destroys an Autobot or two.

    4) Devastator, he was okay but he ultimately just seemed to fail.

    1. Honestly didn't find anything about the character that felt like Frenzy so it felt like just the use of a name. It also seems like a good deal of Transformers fiction has been leaving Soundwave with just one minion so for Frenzy to get used at all he just has to be his own bot these days.

    2. I guess they thought the name sounded cool and they never expected to use the Constructicons. Given the lack of personality to the movie Constructicons in the films not having Bonecrusher didn't feel like a big deal because it was all just nameless robots with no lines.

    3. I don't want to see Bruticus in the live action movies because Decepticons are only there to get killed. They also never used the name Brawl in the first movie. Plus I don't think Brawl has to be the one and only tank Decepticon in all of the Transformers mythology.

    4. I'd remove the Twins. Dark of the Moon was such a better viewing experience without the gangsta Jar Jar twins being annoying.

    1. Don't care. Everything doesn't have to be G1.

    2. Don't care. Everything doesn't have to be G1.

    3. Hell NO! They'd only screw him up.

    4. You mean I can only choose one?!! Er, um SOUNDWAVE. I wouldn't bother trying to make him better. Just having him be part of an army of such shit is terrible. He needs to be removed.

    1. I can get over it

    2..............who cares

    3. NO. These giant transformers like Devastator and Driller end up being wasted cgi that could be going to something better like a better climax between prime and megs.

Change has been an integral part of the brand since essentially it's inception.

It's important to remember that, for the most part, the idea of the "geewunner" is a strawman, that while many fans have preferred older incarnations of the series, it does not mean they approached the Bay films with a closed mind, and nor does it invalidate the numerous criticisms they and others have levelled against he films.

It's essential to weigh the opinions of other users as individuals instead of attaching a label to them for easy dismissal. That's the only way to get good discussion on a forum like this.

Let's add some more questions to the list, I guess.

    5) How did you feel about how the Matrix was approached in the Bayverse, especially in terms of its final relationship with Sam?

    6) What "G1-ish" story elements did you like seeing in the Bay films, which did you feel worked, and which did you feel didn't work? Why?

    7) Would you have preferred to see more "original" characters in the Bay films (like Blackout or Jolt or Jetfire, compared to say, Ratchet, Starscream, and Soundwave)?

    1. I was fine with it. It's not G1, so they can take the characters wherever they want. I liked Frenzy the way he was. And considering Soundwave and Laserbeak were supposedly here since the 1960's, you could make the argument that he was with Soundwave, we just didn't know about Soundwave's existence yet. So, Frenzy hung out with Barricade while SW was doing...whatever it is he does.

2.As I said above, it's not G1, so they can do whatever they want. This didn't bother me at all.

    3. It doesn't particularly matter to me. Since combiners tend to eat up a lot of the effects budget for very little screen time, I'd probably rather they just stick with individual bots, unless they find an easier way to do it. And no, dead characters should stay dead from now on. It cheapens death to merely a plot contrivance.

    4. It's not so much individual characters I minded, but rather the dialogue and screen time some of them had. I like Simmons, but I didn't need a shot of his bare ass. I like Sam, but his shrieking like a woman got old fast. The Twins are probably the only characters I felt we could do without, mostly because of their characterization. Their designs I actually liked, but the whole "southern-white-trash-acting-ghetto" was fucking stupid.

I don't know if it's really such a G1 thing with people so much as if you are going to make a change then make it a good change worth changing something up. Take Soundwave he was a car in Transformers Animated and he's a drone aircraft in Transformers Prime without causing a huge uproar.

If fans couldn't hang with a bit of change then no Beast Wars, no Animated, no Prime, and not even a War for/Fall of Cybertron.

    (5) I think the matrix was fine a little with Sam. But the matrix's relation with characters is more about Optimus.
    (6) I liked the Autobot exile element which showed how cunning the bad guys would be to get along with their plan. The only story element I didn't like was Shockwave on Earth without an explanation was a bit of a confusion as he is potrayed as a character on Cybertron mostly.
    (7) Nah, new characters are fine as long as they don't spoil the way the movies look. Also, Jetfire wasn't entirely new because he still carries elements from his past incarnations such as being a former Decepticon, being on Earth for a long time and combining with Optimus (a reference to the Unicron Triology, which I've acutally never seen).

Character design; I hated it. He looked like the Robot Ghost of Christmas Past from Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Personality: I was amused by Frenzy. I liked him more than he probably deserved.

Bonecrusher? Disapointing. I don't care if he wasn't a Constructicon, I'm more upset of what a little pink princess he was in the movie. I was expecting Bonecrusher to do awesome things, and as it turned out he had a 30 second battle and then died like a dog.

Bruticus would be more welcome than the Driller was. Waste of CGI if you ask me.
I liked Brawl, disappointed he died.

Oh Jeez.......All three movies had so many characters which needed a serious makeover....
I'm going to go with Megatron.
He's the leader of the Decepticons, and in none of the movies is he actually doing any leading.
In the first movie, he shows up in the last 20 minutes, rampages across the city, and then is killed by Sam.
ROTF, he's second in command to the Fallen.
DOTM, He's the leader for about an hour, then Sentinel muscles in. Worst Decepticon leader, EVER. The other Megatrons laugh at him.

Plus in the first movie, he looks like SwampThing...

Well, take some of his quotes such as "Decepticons! Begin our assualt!" from ROTF which Megatron yells at the start of the Egypt battle and "Decepticons, defend the pillars. Find them!" from DOTM when the Decepticons find the Autobots are still alive. So he did show some leadership........

    1) I dont count Frenzy as being a member of Soundwaves group due to the misrepresentation of Frenzy as being just a psychotic thing
    2) Technically its only a name, however seeing as they messed up Devastator and the constructicons i actually feel happy that Bonechrusher was not drawn into the **** storm that was ROTF.
    3) Brawl was named Devastator in the films meaning he would'nt be coming back - if Bruticus stared in the movies he would be similar to ROTF Devastator.
    4) Only one character? mmh... Seeing as the films have too many bad characters to remove i'ld have to say Sam Witwicky. With no Sam this creates a paradox meaning the Autobots never had to send Bumblebee to be with Sam. Thus removing Mikela from the problem also.

Paradox universe (Answer to question 4 explained)
    Film opens with Naration.
    Decepticons attack Base.
    Autobots arrive on Earth.
Autobots sneakily steal the glasses from the parents of the 'former' Sam Witwicky.
    Autobots never find Sector Seven
Megatron is never discovered by the Decepticons
Frenzy never brings Megatron back to life
    The Allspark is never discovered
Megatron is eventually disassembled by the team at Sector Seven
The Fallen never leaves his chair as Optimus is still alive
Sentinel is never discovered - and the Autobots never find the Matrix so Sentinel can never come back to life
Cybertron remains a desolate planet - yet is not destroyed
    Everybody lives happily ever after
