    Just saw this on Yahoo:

DirecTV Resurrects the Dead In Questionable Ad?s - Yahoo! TV Blog
Personally I don't have a problem with it. It's actually quite a funny commercial, imo. Though at the same time I can see why it doesn't sit well with some. I think that if they have the proper consent to continue to use the actors footage, then it's ok with me. Next thing you know, people will start getting upset when they show films on TV with deceased actors in them. That'll be one sad sad day.

I don't see anything wrong with it. They aren't being disrespectful or anything, just making a commercial.

nothing wrong with it, heck they have been doing that same thing even longer with Music Videos in 1989 Hank Williams appeared with his long deceased father Hank Williams Sr in the Video for Tear in my beer and Natalie Cole appear with her late father Nat King Cole in the video for Unforgettable

It's still way less creepy than the CGI Orville Reddenbocker from a couple years back. That was definitely over the line.

They need to do one of these types of things with Andy Kaufman. It would be epic.

Ironically, it was more alive than Orville himself was.

If the advert is funny, it's surely more notable as the first funny thing David Spade has done.

He asked the Farley family for their permission before they did it and they agreed. To me it keeps his memory alive and that's what Spade intended. I really don't see what the big deal is. People just need to STFU.

    Ebay:
Are we forgetting the horror that was a super bowl ad using a dead Gene Kelley to sell vacuum cleaners?

though the family agreed to it, it was in poor taste, IMO.

I seem to recall a beer commercial several years ago, that featured John Wayne.

They're dead it's a wrap. It's not offensive unless the actor is being disrespected.
