    Hi everybody,

longtime board "lurker", first post. This question is a bit off-topic, considering TF3:D OTM being out there and so on, but I still want to ask you guys!

I read on the S4TE that Michael Bay rejected a first draft of the TF1-script which was considerably different compared to the finished movie. I have searched the net, but I couldn't find it. Is there any information about that script floating around?

    I'm curious!

I've got a script draft, but sadly, it evidently isn't what you're looking for - the thing is almost identical to the final product.

Is that referring to the original Tom DeSanto outline? Oh boy, is that one horrible. I have it on my hard drive.

I don't know which one it is ... I have found posts regarding Orci's first draft on these boards. However, that is so close to the finished product, I can't imagine it being rejected by Bay?

Have you checked the TransFormers Wiki?

Is this what you're talking about?:
From the 2007 Movie page (section: Changes before, during and after production):
There are other changes to "early" & "earlier" scripts, listed, but they don't appear to be in any sort of order.

Curious, I also checked Wikipedia, & it's TF 2007 Movie page also had stuff about the early Production (i.e. the Matrix).

& you aren't off topic. This is the Movie Forum, not the DotM forum. You're perfectly fine asking a question about the first Bay film.

I'd like details on Tom DeSanto's draft.

Can't talk to details, but DeSanto is one of the people specifically referenced in some of the changes listed. Others actaully say "Original Script", "Treatment" (which I've learned predates a first draft of a script) or an equivalent.

    The Original Script

This is a thread where Nelson discuses the original script, the one written by John Rogers before Orci and Kurtzman came on board. Very interesting read. I’d love to get my hands on it. Still, though, I wouldn't be pleased if we ended up getting this instead of the film we did get. It does sound more G1, but at the same time it also sounds very childish. :
