I hope this is in the right place. I had a question for any of you techie guys. I downloaded this video that is in Japanese with English subtitles. I burned it to DVD and I can barely see the subtitles because the video is fullscreen and my TV cuts off the bottom. I was wondering if there is any way to make this fullscreen video into widescreen. If not than do you have any other options for me? Thanks.

Is the video in a widescreen format? Either way you're going to have to add a border around the video to compensate for the overscan on your TV.

Only suggestion I have is, you don't need subtitles when your watching Japanese porn. I think you can decipher the grunts. Plus, all you need to understand is "Bukaki".

You could always get a bigger TV.

Frognal's way is possible, but it might take some work.

Making your fullscreen into a widescreen won't necessarily solve your problem.

Does your DVD player have settings that you can alter? Maybe you need to change the screen format in your dvd player from either fullscreen or widescreen... it might be smart enough to figure out how to display your dvd properly by knowing what your TV is..

If that doesn't work, does your TV have screen settings too? Maybe you can change the screen to zoom out a little until you see your subtitles..

Some TVs allow you to adjust the picture too.. up, down, left, right (B, A, Start) CONTRA!... Sorry..

    Edit:

If this dvd is just a bunch of AVIs or like videos on a DVD.. then it's going to be tuff if you can't adjust it yourself..

Those videos were made to be played on a computer ..some encoders are smart enough to compensate for a television.. but not all..

I found another version of the same video that is widescreen and now I can see the subtitles. Thanks for your help though, Frognal and Ranoobu.
