    Greetings,

I just joined and I want to start by saying hello and greetings from Chicago. Being a collector I have many items but I have 2 that are providing me a little grief with trying to get backround information on them.

A few months back I purchased an Optimus Prime and Megatron both G1 and both are in mint condition. No play wear (I don't think they have even been transformed) and the stickers are still on the sheet and are still in the little plastic baggies with the instruction book. They have the foam inserts they were packaged in. They also came with a certificate saying this person is a transfan and will do anything to help the transformers. It also came with a little sticker that said movie edition. They also came with a plain brown box which it was shipped in as I was told these were mail aways that were offered when the original movie came out. I was told these were mail aways from the person I got them from and I have no reason not to trust this persons information.

I have been looking around but I cannot seem to find any information on them nor any kind of possible dollar value. If anyone can help me with any information it will greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    Daryl

Mail away G1 figures of Megs and Prime?

Eh.... I don't know man. That sounds suspicious. I'm not hugely into the original G1 figures, but I don't recall ever having read about either Prime or Megs being available via any mail away. I know Reflector and Skids were.

IIRC, there were movie edition G1 mailaways. (1986 movie, to be clear) I remember a discussion about them on here some time ago.

Then again, that as before my life began, so don't take that to the bank.

That is correct. I got a megs that way. it comes in a plain brown carboard box and the sticker that said movie edition. You had to use the robot points to get them.

Definitely very good scores. I seen Optimus last year at Botcon 2008 for 375.00 but had to pass.

One of the few TRUE collector editions of those toys from back in the day, what a great find!

all they are is the same Gen1 toys without the retail packages, I will see if I can find a mail away sheet to scan and show you. There was other stuff you could get like G1 cars, minicars and seekers in the same mailaway offer.

I just want to thank everyone for the replys. They are the same as G1 releases but only came in a plain brown box (which I have both for). They were also available with other offers.

Thanks again. Someone posted a price they saw Prime for. Anyone know what Megatron might be worth. Thanks again.
