    Ebay:
I purchased a Silver Centurion Iron man ML figure on ebay. Unfortunately the red paint is faded all over the chest and his crotch to the point where the silver is showing through underneath. Did anyone have this problem and can anyone recommend a good paint or marker that I can use to repaint or cover these faded areas that matches the original shiny red color?
    Thanks

See if you can find some red stained glass paint. I think it's properties would be closest to what's used on that figure. I've touched up a few spots on mine, with Model Master acrylic clear red, and it looks okay. But, I don't think it would look right over a large area.

It this a common problem? If so how can I take the necessary precautions?

A lot of that wave had that problem. The rubbery plastic didn't hold the paint apps well. Mine is very faded. Never got around to fixing it though. I'll keep the "worn" effect over trying to fix it and make it worse.
