I wanted to buy a Megatron from BBTS, but it will have the orange tip added to it. Question - is it easy to remove? I would imagine it would make removal difficult if it were glued in there.

It's easy to remove with a pair of pliers...a quick twist and pull. The glue is kinda rubbery, if I recall, and comes off failry easy.

Good question...my experience was with MP. I would imagine it's similar, though.

I remember when BBTS had the warning about the plug. It was basically instructions on how to get the puppy out. It was something like:

"Do not place tip of gun in hot water and pull on the plug ".

Then there was a line about how much collector's loved their modification.

I had the hardest time removing the orange tip from G1 reissue. I eventually popped off just the top of the plug with a pair of pliers, leaving the body still inside the barrel of the gun. I am able to apply the silencer and everything, but it bugs the shit out of me.

That's why it's best to get the Japanese version. They don't have those rules and safety-requirements. There for, the Encore Megatron like I'm getting does not have the plug.
When I got my Masterpiece Megatron, I was concerned it was going to have that stupid plug in place. Cause in the auction, it clearly said it had one and the photo of the box was modified to show an orange-plug. I think he did that to sell it according to ebay-rules or something. Who knows, but I'm glad it did not come with the plug. I think it looks retarded with that plug on.

All reissues of G1 Megatron are Japanese versions. Hasbro will NEVER release a G1 reissue of Megatron because of US gun laws and the potential to get sued if any kids get shot by police. Add to that all of the transforming gun figures that are imported from Japan are supposed to have the orange tip regardless if it is Encore, Reissue, E Hobby Exclusive, etc. And if you are hoping to score one without the orange tip, just hope that customs doesn't find your unplugged Encore figure or they may confiscate it.

My Encore Megatron had the plug added by the importer. I sold it on without ever opening it, since I had the 16-S reissue. I also picked up TFC #6, but that I got in the Junkion from a guy who bought it in Japan, I believe. Neither one of those were plugged.

I got the E-Hobby Black G1 Megatron (more like "A Few Black Pieces Megatron"), and I just tugged on the plug and it pretty much just came right out. Easy as pie.

Got my TFC Megs in 2004 before all of the orange plug craze on TFs....I did however get the orange plug on the MP Megs. EASILY removed...just pull it out!

I, too, have a TFC Megatron with no plug, and I bought it from an online retailer.
