How is he able to fly? He was seen flying into the freight ship over the Laurentian Abyss in ROTF, and he HAS to fly in order to be able to report back to his master Soundwave. Can he use his gunbarrels as jet boosters or something?

I don't think they showed him flying, but I'm pretty sure he can swim.

Actually, this is probably the LEAST likely reason he would need to fly.

Soundwave shot him down to earth from orbit. And he swam the rest of the way. Ravage doesn't fly...

Also, after he was sent to the base by Soundwave, it doesn't really show him "flying" back to Soundwave. Rather, he's just on the ship, which doesn't mean he flew there again.

How DID he get on the ship? That scene clearly shows him arriving on the ship: he rockets on deck with a rebound, and gets quiclkly out of sight, cut to a Decepticon insignia.
I thought I saw him flying there with jets or something. Because he does his job, Soundwave can't always come down to pick him up (Ravage attacks NEST, Soundwave picks him up and then sends him to the ship?). He's got to make his own way back sometimes. So I think he might have jets to transport him.

Unless he has jets in his anus....he ain't flying. And like I said, he can swim so that's how he probably jumped on the ship.

No, OP's right. It does legitimately show him rocketing in from the air.

To be fair, that whole on boat/underwater/coming up sequence is a complete clusterfuck.

Yeah, it does show him rocketing onto the shp you can clearly see he didnt jump because he had like a trail of fire to tell the he was either being shot down or he was flying indeed himself

True story. I remember watching it the one time and seeing how it changes from being Scrapper, red Rampage, et. al. in the overhead shot, to Some Volvo thingy, and a yellow Rampage in the actual scene and thinking "Uh..what?"

Maybe, as a sort of exceptional ability of his, Ravage has something of a quick-to-access transition form as a kind of missile mode to sometimes fly around? I dunno. *shrug*

There was no Yellow Rampage-body type TF in that movie. Assuming Rampage (the one who fought 'Bee), is the same on the ship, we haven't seen any others with that body-type, no less in Yellow. (We do see a yellow bulldozer help form Devastator, though).

On the ship scene, after Ravage lands and starts walking around, there is a yellow bulldozer sitting on the deck. However, when the Cons go down to revive Megs, Rampage is there in red. So, the scene goes from being "red Rampage body type and Scrapper body type" to "yellow Rampage body type and Volvo thing", then back to "red Rampage body type and Scrapper body type as robots."

One thing I'd like to add is that Diego Garcia (where the shard was) is located in the Indian Ocean off the southern tip of India, while the Laurentian Abyss (where Megs was) is located in the Atlantic Ocean off the east coast of Canada.

Not sure how Ravage got to both.

My theory about the landing on the ship is that Ravage can swim reeeeeaaaaaalllllyyyy fast, like a torpedo, and the trail of fire/sparks we see, is some kind of quick propulsion jump jet.

In other words, he started towards the ship either on, or under water, gaining speed, until he "jump-jetted" out of the water, and onto the deck.

I think that's actually kind of clever - he specializes in swimming quickly, but there's still some sort of burning propulsion for certain moments.
