I bought a masterpiece starscream on ebay, it was labeled new sealed in box. How are the quality of the masterpiece toys? The starscream had some places where it looked like paint was coming off, and minor scratches. There is also a part in the middle of the jet that looks like it has some glue. Is this normal?
No, that's not normal for any MISB toy, though there are a lot of problems with the quality of that figure. The plastic doesnt hold up well under multiple transformations. Check the feedback forum to find out more on him. MP-05 Megatron has similar issues, though mainly because he's tough to transform and has a lot of parts that come off. Generally, the MPs have a few turns and twists that can be intense if you're not all that clear on what to do. When I was first trying to move all the stuff in Prime's chest to turn him into the Cab I often thought "this isn't as boxy as it should be, what the hell did I do wrong?" I would fiddle with them carefully, even Prime, who is known to be the sturdiest of all.
let me guess, the white stripes on his shoulders? sadly, thats typical with MP starscream, even fresh from a sealed box. what part of him had glue on it?
I hear SS is as fragile as glass, and then Megs, though not as much. Most Primes are sturdy, except for the DVD version, paint chipping on mine that were there after a few transforms.
I think that the plastic is naturally fragile, but I think the glue could've been applied way better, try to get some glue remover and reglue yourself
Sometimes there is a glue mistake at the factory. Others have reported similar things on other toys, even factory workers' fingerprints in glue or paint on the toy. If it makes you feel any better, it doesn't happen often.
are you sure the box/ tape wasnt tampered with? I know it doesnt make a diff cause its opened or whatever now, but I've nevaer seen that.....Is he glued anywhere? I dont think so?
