First of all, I do not know why you are greasing up your TFs, but that is your business. Just remember it's okay to love your TF's, but not love your Tf's. ;)

Which generation are you talking about? Paint apps on G1s are fairly durable. Most if it seemed to be enamel over metal. Just be really careful with Jetfire's red.

The modern stuff is pretty good, with a few exceptions (like 08 bumblebee). but it is on plastic so vigorous rubbing can take it out.

If they are dirty, warm soapy water works well, be sure to dry thoroughly to prevent rust.

They seem to last a good while, if you take care of them. Any unnecessary "smashing" of parts will probably chip or degrade it some.

As for the quality of their paint apps........that could use some fine-tuning on their part (Classics Starscream, anyone?). If it does wear off though, just DIY and whip up something better than Hasbro.

this is probaly me being paranoid but would the paint rub off if it was overly exposed to sweaty hands?

    Paint

First you have to find a Hasbro Transformer with good paint applications to worry about it.

    Seconded.

I wash my hands sometimes before handling some of my toys to make sure my fingers aren't dirty, greasy, sticky, lubed up :lol

Wait, if you thought that, how did you think Hasbro TFs had colors added to them? Really, really, really good stickers? :sly2:

I don't know what jazz4ever is doing with his hands and his TFs. I never want to know either.
