How come some of the Classic Transformers, the ones on the gold cards, don't have rub signs and some do? I have a Classic Swindle without one and a Classic Dead End with one. They are both Classics not Euro releases. The one with the rub sign also has robot points on the back.

    anyone know why??

They ran out the day your Swindle was made :p

No idea, but I thought the Classics line was only a European UK thing... I know I never saw them in the US.

Perhaps it was just a factory mess up?

Maybe it has to do with when the toy was originally released or something like that...

after checking, my G1 swindle that came from a classics card is also missing his rubsign.

hasbro just felt like teasing him, I guess.

Maybe it was during the time they started to stop using them and the message was'nt clear throughout all the factories to halt on the rubsigns.

    Just a guess.

    Close enough.

IIRC, the Stunticons and Aerialbots were issued on Classics cards in 1990.

The Classics Combaticons and Protectobots were issued in 1991, so they probably ditched the Rubsigns then.

It could have been a running change, they used them till they ran out of them.

What stores did you see them in????

I was living in LA at the time and NEVER saw them, had I seen them I would have bought them in a min. That and every online resource I have seen says they were Ero/UK Only.

meijers. I know some of the combiner limbs were available there in the gold packaging, but I never saw the "body" figures.

I got swindle and streetwise in gold packaging, and no, dont have the packages anymore.

the same meijers has imported stuff more recently (various japan-only gundam models when the big gundam wing boom hit, like the Ganso SD kits, and some gundam X kits), so it could have been just them importing the figures from europe.

That has to be it then. I thought for sure that if they were available in the US they would have shown up in LA.

I've seen some weird stuff show up at my Meijer store (Machine Wars figures, whole swarm of SD Gundam kits from Japan, and a bunch of other stuff you wouldn't expect to find there. The SD Gundam kits were unlike anything I've ever seen released over here, and any info I've been able to dig up on them suggest they were only released in Japan). The strange thing is, the store has only been there for about 7 years ('99-present).

To my knowledge, most of my gold-boxed Classics releases had rubsigns. I know mnost of the cars did for certain, thinking about the Combaticons, though, my Vortex and Brawl, who were gold cards, never had rubsigns.
Weird, all this time I've had them and I never even noticed.
