My brother would like to know when the Classics 2 wave will be coming out. Will it be this holiday season or next year? Also, is it known which characters they will come out with?

Next fall. And beyond the car brothers and Octane it's all speculation.

Then again, it's a warmly-received piece of news for my wallet.

Yeah, it's coming out sometime next fall. Other than the confirmed ones, there are some that they are concidering making for the first run, which will be 8 Deluxe's and 3-4 Ultra's. Personally, I'm hoping for Prowl, Silverstreak, Smokescrean, Red Alert, Ironhide, and Ratchet to be part of Classics 2.0. The thing is, I can't really think of any more obvious Decepticons that they could do for it, other than combiner parts.

    Shockwave would be another.

But there's plenty of discussion about this in the speculation threads already.

And didn't Hasbro say they weren't going to do animal alt'ed guys at first? I seem to remember reading that was the case. So cross off Incesticons, at first anyway. And since they've as much as said that season 3 characters are fair game. That leaves (minus combiners) Galvatron, Scourge (and sweeps), Cyclonus, the battlechargers, Shockwave, Soundwave, and the other 3 jets (with new molds 'natch).

Also let's all try and remember that in the G1 line Autobots outnumbered the 'Cons 2:1.

They could do Classics Frenzy and Rumble (easy repaint), runabout, runamuck also easy repaints, Cyclonus, Scourge.

With Botcon Weirdwolf, they've established headmasters are game. Targetmaster Misfire, Triggerhappy or Slugslinger, Sixshot.

They may want to rethink their non-animal alt mode to open up Ravage, Lazerbeak, Buzzsaw, Gnaw, insectacons, etc.

you can't use botcon weirdwolf with any Classics discussion, as its wholly unrelated. FP said themselves it wasn't supposed to be for classics.

There's "confirmed" and there's "confirmed". Nothings truly confirmed to me until I see a photo of a real-world three-dimensional object, instead of concept art.

What I meant by obvious Decepticons are characters that Hasbro would obviously do, especially at the Deluxe scale. Personally, I'm hoping that they do bring back the Voyager size class for the line, as some of the one's that I'd love hasbro to do wold make more sense as Voyagers. Cyclonus and Scourge come to mind. Also, if they do make the Insecticons in Classics, it probably won't be till a later run. They not only are concentrating on less animal alt-modes for now, but, we've also heard that we're supposed to get a set of them in the Animated line, though I only remember hearing that once, and that we are also supposedly getting an Animated Devastator too. I'm just kinda worried that the Autobots will outnumber the Decepticons. I personally like to keep the numbers even between the two factions.

Actually, I think Hasbro was referrring more to the more organic/fluid styled beast modes of Beast Wars/Machines and Cybertron's Jungle planet. The blockier robotic animal modes (especially G1 classics like the Dinobots and Insecticons) ought to be fair game.

And while Animated characters may off limits for now (except for ones with major aesthetic differences, so I'm betting a Classics Prowl sooner rather than later), I don't believe for a second that we won't eventually get a Starscream or Optimus of some sort within the first 18 months of the line.
They are core characters for a reason, and I'm personally hoping that Hasbro might take this chance will classics to do some reinvention of the core characters (ie, a Starscream moddeled after his Transtech/Machine Wars versions?)

Good point. Yeah next fall is the timeframe though I do believe we will get the ones mentioned at Botcon. Galvatron alone will be all kinds of awesome.
