Just threw this guy together tonight. Took about an hour, as it's pretty simple, but cool. I used the Cybertron CJ head and swapped it on a repainted RTS Bumblebee with added chest decal. I used bettis211 's idea going with the Testors Revving red spray after completely disassembling him (love the shimmer, great idea man!) Added a jetpack from that crappy promo DOTM "cyberverse" Prime (hey at least he's good for somethin' right?). And Yes, that's Nightstick in his right hand, but CJ calls him "Boomstick"!
This turned out really awesome Question for you: did you intentionally try to see how quickly you could get this done, or did the time just end up that way? Sometimes, I play that sort of game with my work, and sometimes things just turn out that way, so I'm just curious
Thanks SQ7!!! Ha! No, it just sort of ended up that way.I had seen other builds of this custom and knew exactly what I needed to do, so it just flew by when I got down to it. It also helps when you're workin with good quality spray paints (dry brush details were very minimal on him) that have a quick drying time. The Testors Revving Red dries in minutes and the Krylon Primer I used dries in seconds sometimes! Key is to just use multiple thin coats. Honestly, most of the hour was taken up just masking his windows and putting him back together! (As most will atest, you have to be real careful while the parts are all painted up to avoid scrathes!)
Ah, ya got me, it was a few minutes over an hour That paint dries super quick though for a laquer (I love it!). Testors is beating Tamiya in the paint contest for me so far.
@ Solracc333- Ha!, You got it man. That commercial was the first thing that popped into my head when posting this guy. I'm planning on making another for e-bay actually! @Torque- Oh yes, forgot to say that in the first thread, but yes, his head was spray painted the same Testor's Revving Red color as well! I masked his face really well, and went to town, so he lost his light piping, but no big deal. it didn't show up very well any how. Thanks pumpkingonzo!
