I did a search of it and couldn't find anything so I figured I'd as the community since I'm sure I'll get an answer or at least a damn good theory or two. What's the deal with the chained matrix around the neck of Optimus in the final episode of TF: Animated? Was that THE Matrix of Leadership? Was it an allspark shard that was encased in the familiar matrix design? Was it like a medal, a reward given to Prime for his bravery? I really don't know. I'm all ears and thanks in advance.

In a way it was the Animated Matrix of Leadership. It was made to contain the remains of the All Spark, which is basically another way of representing the Matrix. So yeah.
Yeah, it was just the remnants of the Allspark in a new case-housing, which happened to look like the Matrix of Leadership, since the original Allspark casing was essentially a LARGER version of the Matrix of Leadership.
Didn't we have this exact topic less than two weeks ago? Anyway, I'll restate my hunch: It's all the Allspark shards Jazz and Prowl could get back together into one form again..it's missing some so it will never be the 'Allspark' again, but I'm 100% sure that it was meant to be this universe's version of the Matrix from this point on.
