In the first few minutes of More Than Meets The Eye, the Ark crashes on Earth and there is no activity for four million years. The occupants are at this point:

    a) Dead. Dead-dead. Go directly to dead, do not pass Go, do not collect $200. They even had bits off them that needed to be put back on.

    b) Offline, but not dead. Post-Beast Wars, it's regarded as "stasis lock", but it's the approximate equivalent of a coma, as if some kind of circuit-breaker had been tripped.

    I voted Not-Dead, and I'll explain.

For starters, Beast Wars references the Transformers as being in "stasis-lock" on the Ark, and that they weren't due to awaken and be "restored" until the volcano erupts in 1984 and throws Teletran-1 back online.

Continued on ... if Teletran-1 had the power to "bring back the dead", I would imagine such technology would be replicated in G1 within Autobot City and on Cybertron. Teletran-1 "restores and repairs" the Transformers, but never seemed to bring any of them "back to life from being dead-dead". G1 really seemed to push that when a Transformer was dead, it was dead ... and only Quintesson science, the beings that created the Transformers, were able to bring them back to life, and even then it was a far-reach.

    Stasis lock.

A show about metal corpses would have been boring.

How would there have been a G1 cartoon series if they were dead?

And if they were all dead and subsequently brought back to life by teletran 1 at the beginning of the series, then why couldn't teletran 1 revive any autobot who was killed in battle.

    Not dead. Stasis Lock.

Isn't "Alive" a more efficient term than "Not Dead" :lol

Quintesson or Junkion. For some reason. But yeah, agree. Teletraan-1 can't raise the dead, or it surely would have been used to do so a number of times.

Bingo. Everyone was knocked out cold in the crash.

Junkions seem to have a special knowledge of how a Transformers body works. They can repair their own bodies in seconds with whatever junk is lying around. I don't see why any other Transformer would be a big deal. Unless they had been dead for a while, while Ultra Magnus who had only just been killed.

As good an explanation as any I've heard. I sure do love the Junkions.

or maybe they are all dead and the entire series is actually Huffer's version of hell.

Because he seems to be enjoying it the least. And is a pedophile.

Stasis lock, which is more like a long unconsciousness or a medically induced coma than death.

Thanks everyone for the statistically unanimous responses to what I'm well aware is a stupid question. It helped settle one of those arguments that's even more mind-numbingly stupid than the question itself.

Everyone's reaction made it seem like he died, so that's the interpretation I always went with.

    Look at the bigger picture.

We have seen other bots blown apart and taken apart and survive........with medical/mechanical attention of some type.

Considering that none of those there had medical/mechanical expertize [except maybe Preceptor] and they werent in the ideal facility for such repairs, their reactions were appropriate.
