Hey fellow TFW2005'ers, when you get a Classics Jetfire you had better check it to make sure both of sets of read stabilizers/wings have their plastic pins. I just opened the one I got this weekend and the left rear wing popped right off. Luckily the Walmart wear I bought this incomplete Jetfire still hand another one a couple of hours ago, when I got my oil changed. I wish I had noticed this problem before I clipped all his wires to get him out of the package. Fortunately, the wires from Supreme Screamer are long enough (even after clipping) to lash this piece of crap back into it's card board coffin.

See you all later. It's off to Walmart again.

Thanks for the heads up on the problem, but why are you even bothering to put the wires back on him if you are going to do a damaged swap?

What Olds said. Why are you wiring up a toy that needs to be returned as defective?

Well, I'm back. I opened the second one before I was even out the door, and this one had both of it's pins.

As to why I bothed to tie him back down, I wanted to test them. And, see if they would put him back out on the shelves tomorrow. As some stores have been know to do.

By the way, are the arm launchers suppose to be loose? That was something I also noticed about the first one.

yes, because the arm launchers come off.

I have never heard of stores putting damaged merchandise back on the shelf. At mine, they print out the defective slip almost immediately after you do the return, unless they are absolutely swamped.

I have found a Cybertron Backstop, all the limbs busted off, the cardboard backing totally destroyed, and all packaging taped up, put back on the shelf. We quickly took it to Claims to have it destroyed.

Walmart definitely has a history of putting damaged goods back on the shelf... or of at least being slack about that sort of thing.

I returned an Energon Starscream (G1 colours) to a Walmart because the right arm was actually fused with the shoulder (no articulation, impossible to fully transform). They refunded me without much fanfare after I explained the problem and stressed to them that the toy is non-functional as-is.

On my next visit, I saw my same old Starscream, taped shut, and being sold at regular price. I was so irritated, I pulled a sharpie marker out of my pocket and wrote a warning to prospective buyers right on the bubble!

About a month or so ago, I also got a kick out of something I found there. It was a box for a Cybertron Quickmix, but inside was a meticulously wired in orange and yellow dollar-store tractor, with a tiny KO Power Ranger figure wired in where the minicon was supposed to go. Besides the colour, there was absolutely no resemblance between the tractor and Quickmix (and it was also about half the size). It would be impossible to mistake it for the toy on the back of the box if someone looked at it for any more than half a second.

Clearly somebody bought Quickmix, then swapped it for the dollarstore tractor, and returned it for refund... kind of a dick move, but I have to admire the balls it took to walk up to a counter and try to return this totally different toy for credit. I wonder how many Walmarts he got chased out of before hitting one with clerks ignorant enough to let it pass?

I was in a hurry, so I didn't bring it to anyone's attention, but I hope no kid got a "Quickmix" for his birthday only to find it was a crappy dollar tractor. :p

Oh man, I can't believe what I just read. Shame on the person who did the switch and even more shame on Walmart for having such a heck-care attitude. Now I know why most stores in my country has a "no return" policy...

Thanks for the heads-up on Jetfire by the way...but its kind of alarming to read of such a QC problem, especially when he's hard to find in my country.

I used to work in a specialist bookstore that was right nextdoor to a Toys-R-Us.
My lunch mate worked in T-R-U and often complained about people coming into the store and swapping a crappy boxed bit of rubbish with a pristine toy. And walking smartly out smiling as the door gorilla checked the bags and saw the docket, and assumed they'd just brought the toy.

Now, WHY people want multiple copies of the same toy is beyond me.

I loved the plastic dino-rider Quetzlocotus in the Skydive box.
Which I picked up for free, seeing as my old dino-rider was broken.

    Pin Pictures

Okay here's a picture of the pins I'm talking about. The pins are hard to make out in the pic, because these pins are made out of the same white plastic that most of Jetfire is. And, when he's in package at the store only one of them is visible through the clear plastic.

And, just in case any of you are from my neck of the woods in the Iowa Quad Cities, and go to the Super Walmart on West Kimberly road. If that other Jetfire gets put back on the shelf (as I expect it too) I made a clearly visible small black pen mark on the inside of the package.

And, as far as the looseness of the arm guns on that first Jetfire, they were floppy as all hell. On my new one, they don't wiggle nearly as much. So, I guess there is another Q.C. issue on Classics Jetfire.

For almost 2 and half months my Walmart has had a Primus, with Unicron Head on the shelf that some Yahoo rippied open and took the Unicron head out of....

Morons still have it on the shelf.

I just saw a fully-transformed-into-planet-mode Primus at a Target. Could be worse, but still...
