JR : Oh, and there’s the MTMTE animated series, debuting Fall 2013.

I made that up. But just for a second—just for a second—it felt like it was true.

    GAWDAMMIT....MAKE IT HAPPEN HASBRO!!!

I can live without Transformers Prime if it means we'll be getting More Than Meets The Eye : The Animated Series!

Their interviews are almost as fun to read as their comics.

As much as I love Prime, yeah, I'd freak the hell out if Roberts were head writer on a TF show. Makes me wonder if a Lost in Space style TF show could make Transformers work without an Optimus and a Megatron in the regular cast.

It's working for the comic, but unfortunately, Hasbro if far less likely to allow such an experiment in the cartoon, particularly now. When you think about it, Japan actually had a very nice thing going, practically duplicating the Super Sentai formula - that is, have them still have the basic recognizablity, but have them be different characters, we got a ton of great robots from them because of that, Big Convoy, Lio Convoy, Fire Convoy, Grand Convoy, Galaxy Convoy and to a limited degree - Star Saber, Dai Atlas, God Ginrai, Fortress Maximus, plus their casts of course. It widened the universe, and it made Transformers so much more than just a small bunch of ragtag fighters that we seem to be getting now (Ok, it made sense in Beast Wars and Animated, but not so much in Transformers Prime)

I think the smaller groups are driven more by the CG than anything else. But yeah I don't realistically see a TF show without Prime or Bumblebee for a long while, if ever, given how hard they push those toys.

Rescue Bots doesn't have them other than brief cameos.

Good point. It's a start, I guess. Ween the little ones off the old standbys and maybe one day we'll have a main series that doesn't require them.

Not that I dislike Prime and Megs, just that I'm a fan of variety, which is why I love that we're getting a break from them in the comics to let other characters shine for a while.

Depending on the CG, Cybertron/Energon had a bit of CGI, just not the same as TFP and Beast Wars, and they had tons of characters. I just wish that we'd get to see interaction with more TFs, I mean geez, the two Supreme Commanders are both on Earth commanding a small group of Bots and Cons, and for a galactic war, that's just kind of strange. TF Animated had a nice idea going for me though, you have an Autobot Elite Guard (composed of the Supreme Commander and an elite squad) which could supervise/assist with other remote teams/squads scattered across the galaxy.

Damn them for saying the animated series was a hoax! I'd watch it!

Someone tell James Roberts to kidnap Ehren Kruger (or whoever's slated to do it) and write TF4 instead.
