Interesting idea, but a bit doubtful, imo. I think it's more likely that they are tributes to the beings (ancient Cybertronians), that crash landed on Earth. Either way, something interesting is going to come from those scenes in Egypt, imo.

That's a interesting thought. Though with Bay in the director's chair, who knows.

i've been pondering this for ages, and it does seem feasible, though it is kind of pushing the whole suspended disbelief thing even for a movie about transforming alien robots

The whole mysterious stuff with the pyramids is used a lot, so i'd say that is a pretty good thought. Maybe the autobots helped builed the pyramids many years ago and one of them is a prison for the Fallen.

Edit: woops, sorry newguy, didn't read you post. "Great minds do think alike".

or the fallen enslaved the egyption race and forced them to build the pyramids to try and create his own energon cubes and harness the suns power but before he could his power ran out and the egyptions entombed him inside the great pyramid until the day someone would discover him and release him.

That could be an idea. If you took a giant cube and stuck it in the ground at an angle, one of the corners sticking out would ressemble a pyramid...
