this is veary simple thing to do here is a short video i did to explains what i did.

What you will need
1. click pen .. most have the same size spring
2. something to cut the spring
3. needle nose pliers to bend the end of the spring smaller to hook on to the latch

optional
4. may need a screw driver depending on the tolerances on your parts
5. small jewelers files to fix the tolerances if need be

 

I repaired my G1 Blitzwing missile launchers using pen springs too. They are very useful.
