I don't consider anything released within the last 12 months as it's just too soon to let it sink in. I'm probably forgetting some too but here's a wad that's close to 20:

The Baxter - Charming, genuine, witty and funny look at the romantic comedy genre.

Black Snake Moan - Samuel Jackson playing the slide guitar? Oh also good exploration of sexuality, abuse and power in relationships.

Memento - I'm a sucker for non-linear storytelling. Perfectly directed and completely enthralling without being too gimmicky.

Adaptation - A little bit pretentious but very entertaining.

Snatch - Glitzier than Lock Stock but I prefer it.

Office Space - Probably the best comedy of the last 10 years or so.

The Ten - Hilarious movie with a great cast that finishes with a giant jam session. Love it.

Falling Down - It's aged a little bit and I don't care for the retiring cop subplot but D. Fens is awesome.

Cannibal: the Musical! - Low budget movie making done right. Almost perfect comedy.

Ong Bak - The story isn't great but it's got soul (as much as it can). One of the better action movies out there.

Back To The Future trilogy - Fun.

Hellboy I + II - Spectacular design work, really solid fantasy/action.

Donnie Darko - Perfect teen movie, sums up that whole age period nicely. Bonus points for time travel.

My Top 20 in no order

Star Wars Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back
A great film with great acting, effects, story, characters, score, you name it its got it

    Rocky (Original Only)
The best underdog story ever in my opinion. A very uplifting film and who can forget ‘gonna fly now’

Lord of the Rings extended edition
Possibly my favourite series of films. An impossible adaption that should never of worked but Peter Jackson pulled it off. I eagerly anticipate the Hobbit 2 parter when it is released

    Casino Royale
Daniel Craig brings Bond back to reality with a bang. Superbly acted with great action scenes. Easily my favourite Bond film

    Layer Cake
Cool acting, great story, very violent but an unique view of the crime world. + I actually respect FCUK for having the balls to do that bit of unique product placement in the opening

    The Bourne Trilogy
A very different sort of secret agent with excellent acting from Matt Damon and superbly choreographed action scenes.

Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith
My 2nd favourite film with far superior acting and story to the previous 2 prequels. My favourite moment is the final duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan. Also seeing the birth of
    Darth Vader is iconic

    The Italian Job (60’s Original)
Loads of good old British charm and humour combined with an iconic car chase with the awesome mini cooper. Very tongue in cheek unlike the American remake which takes itself far to seriously

    Se7en
Some of the best acting ever from Freeman and Pitt. Truly a shock ending.

    Superman
You will believe a man can fly. Excellent film which has aged quite well, given how long ago it was made.

    Gladiator
Are you not entertained? I certainly was, easily Russell Crowes best film

    Black Hawk Down
A very good nitty gritty war film based on true events. I prefer it to Saving Private Ryan

    Stardust
The fairytale that won’t behave. Great fun, well acted, great theme song and one of the more original fantasy tales in recent years. Gaiman’s Novel isn’t too bad either but I prefer the film

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Good fun. Ford at his best, Connery at his funniest. A fantastic mix of comedy and action. Easily my favourite out of the 4 films

    Jaws
Duh nuh, Duh nuh, Duh nuh, dun dun dun dun..........I love this film, for the horror, the humour and brilliant acting from the main cast.

    Wall-E
Great film. Fantastic visuals, And great romance from the main cast members who can’t actually speak

    Love Actually
A genuinely funny romantic comedy that’s sweet at the the same time with some great acting and good humour

    The Terminator
My favourite of the films is the original. A truly original film at the time with great special effects and an excellent story

    Robocop
A fantastic film with one of cinemas most brutal deaths ever seen on screen. Great effects, score and acting lead to a sci-fi classic

    The Lion King
Arguably the best film Disney ever made. Great songs, great voice cast and some powerful scenes.

In no special order...except the first one is on top

The Empire Strikes Back: Awesome movie, great action, Boba Fett(I don't wanna hear it), Bad Guys win, the biggest plot twist with Vader being Luke, I grew up to Star Wars so...also honorable mentions of the other 2 Star Wars Movies.

The Fifth Element: Asside having Milla in it, futuristic action, awesome effects, just does the trick.

Terminator 2: Like said before, tops the first movie, awesome action, awesome story

Transformers(animated): Another movie I grew up with, always made me happy watching it, minus Optimus' death, which as we all know is hearbreaking

Transformers(2007 & ROTF): Putting both under the same line, great action, I like the story, awesome visual, the first movie seeing in theaters made me feel like a kid all over again (my opinion, I know)

Dawn of the Dead(the original): Fuck fast moving zombies, this movie shows how to utilize a whole damn mall to yourself in a zombie apocalypse, all the action, and the drama you need.(honorable mention Night, Day, Land, and Diary of the dead)

Mallrats: You can't go wrong with this comedy, all the entertaining values of the saga, some of the characters I can relate to. Not to mention all the references to Star Wars and comics

Snoopy Come Home: A movie I grew up watching, you can't go wrong with the Peanuts Gang, still gives me tears when Snoopy leaves the gang, even though you know he is coming back.

Ghostbusters: Great comedy, great story, very original, visuals were good too, second one wasn't bad either, I don't know why people hate it..(my opinion)

Major League: Great sports comedy, even asside being an Indians fan, it's the closest thing to a championship for the Indians in about 55 years, :lol  Even the second one was great, the third...just didn't do the trick

Evil Dead 2: What more can you ask for out of a Horror with a slice of comedy. Bruce Campbell pulls off the roll perfect, not to mention how he makes the pain look so real. Great story, didn't need all the uber visual effects to make it look great (honorable mention Evil Dead, Army of Darkness)

Rambo First Blood part 2: While the first one was great, the second one had more of the action that you need in a movie, great story, action packed! (Honorable mention to the first one and Rambo(4), the third one gets a mention too for being filled with action)

Rocky Saga(all 6): From start to end, this has it all, drama, story, action.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The movie has action, one of the best stories, Sean Connery, and a epic quest for the Holy Grail

Any Bond movie with Connery: Plain and simple, he pulled it off the best, Action, suspense, and all the gadgets that Q could work up!

The Green Mile: This movie had a great story, lots of drama, I still quote this movie on occasion! Even the ending tears me up a lil.

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children: VII is one of my favorite games, and seeing it in movie form is just great, meets the aspect of the game in movie form, filled with action and a great story to boot

Commando: Arny...a one man army...action packed...what more do I say? (there is a ton of Ahnold movies I could honorably mention...but not enough spots to save for it!)

Braveheart: Full of action, drama, a great story, and bloody violence.

Superman II: The first one was great, but the second one...much better. Reeves pulls off the character dead on. Giving him 3 super baddies to square off against brilliant! Not to mention his clever deception in the end.

This is all I can come up with at the moment...

Much of what i'd consider putting in my top 20 has already been covered, but dead certs that haven't been mentioned or properly explained yet -

Blade Runner - Incredible cinema. Excellent multi layered writing, great performances from the cast, unmatched production design and Ridley Scott directing at the top of his game.

Predator - The peak of 80s action cinema IMO, raw manliness distilled and printed onto film.

Robocop - Would have been a good movie even if it was just a strait action film, but the sharp satire and black humor propelled it into awesomeness.

Hero - Fucking amazing direction and cinematography. China is making a mockery out of today's Hollywood in the historical epic department and its not just a ready supply of cheap labour thats making that happen.

Patlabor 2 - All thats great about Mamoru Oshii as a director, but with little of the self-indulgence and pacing deficiency that blights most of his later work.

Where Eagles Dare - Richard Burton, Clint Eastwood and a castle full of Nazis. That alone is enougth, but the twisty plot and action that looks like it was ripped strait out of an old war comic is the icing on the cake.

    Maybe more later.

Or just not made them at all. No sequel was needed, and they were both absolute rubbish IMO.

Where Eagles Dare is in my list. It's a brilliant movie, and the book is even better.

I agree. I loved the first one. While it would have been unresolved, I still think I would like that better than the actual outcome.

Hmmmm I left out some of the commons like Star Wars, LOTR, etc....but left some commons in.

Mr. Smith goes to Washington - Jimmy Stewart, I could fill this list with your movies but that wouldn't exactly be fair would it?
12 Angry Men (1957) - All but 10 minutes or so takes place in a jury room. Awesome.
Schindlers List - If this did not make your list you fail.
Gettysburg - My favorite Civil War movie, just about perfectly done.
Aliens - "Hey Vasquez, you ever been mistaken for a man?" "No, have you?" :D
Blade Runner - I didn't watch this until a couple of years ago and understand the shock people had on why I didn't watch it earlier.
A bridge too far - Awesome movie, awesome cast - all it needs is for George Clooney and co. to remake it. (Thinking of oceans 11, bastards)
The Goonies - I don't know anyone who doesn't love this movie. Makes everyone want to be a treasure hunter with their special ed friends. :)
The Princess Bride - "My name is Inigo Montoya..." Just like the Goonies, everyone loves this movie...I guess it makes people want a giant and a Spaniard...
All Quiet on the Western Front - I love both versions of this movie, color and black & white version. Captures the horrors of it and how men try and survive mentally and physically.
Fight Club - I love the little bits you don't catch the first time. You can actually pause the movie at the right time and see Pitt tossed in with Norton before Pitt has been introduced.
Mystic River - Great movie and Mr. Eastwood does a great job directing
    Gran Torino - " " + acting
Kelleys Heroes - Not exactly sure why I love this movie - shows that everyone wants to get paid. :p
Slap Shot - Hockey + Paul Newman = Win
Cool Hand Luke - "What we have here is failure to communicate..."
Full Metal Jacket - The start cracks me up and the second half.... "How can you shoot women and children?" "Easy! You just don't lead them as much!"
Red Dawn - Made me want to take up arms against the invading commie horde...
Pulp Fiction - I still wonder what was in that case....
Cross of Iron - Shows some of what the Germans went through and the horrors of battlefield politics.

Honorable mention - The Green Berets - John Wayne, the man, the myth, the legend.

    Chuck

I'm picking single movies here. Not going to bundle together a series or a trilogy all in 1. Usually if there's a movie that belonged in a series, I enjoyed the series as a whole, but Im going to pick the one that is the shining gem to me.

    Here goes..

1.) Top Gun - OMFG Fighter Jets, and they're not lame ass models or graphics (mostly) but the real thing doing stunts! AWSOME! Oh yeah, there's some humor at some shirtless guys but who cares about that?

2.) Children of Men - Quite possibly the best movie I've ever seen. With the way the camera is always following the main character, it could've been a first-person-movie, which is kinda neat. That's not the reason why I say its the best movie, just a bonus.

3.) Star Wars IV: A New Hope - Best space adventure evar!!! The next movies are great as well but if I have to pick 1, it wouuld be the 1st movie. The X-wing dog-fighting at the end is also a major bonus for me as well.

4.) Aliens - Space Marines & Xenomorphs. Its like ham & cheese. This movie is what defined "space marine" too. It also housed one of the most kickass fight scenes ever, exosuit vs Alien Queen!

5.) Transformers (2007) - This movie was awsome. I dunno what else I could ask for. It had Autobots & Decepticon's beating each other up and they looked good while doing it. I enjoyed the sequel almost as much too but ROTF fell short.

6.) Black Hawk Down - It's a bit weird for me to explain this one. Before I saw this movie, all other war movies I knew of where based around either some fictional situation or if they where based on anything, it was based on a time I wasnt around for. I remember the stuff that BHD is based on in the news. It's first time I saw a "based on a true story" about something I knew existed in my time. The hour and a 1/2 gunfight is a pretty cool bonus too.

7.) The Bourne Idenity - Compared to the book, it's totally wrong, but I dont care. This movie is so awsome on it's own and it wasnt like any other ordinary spy film (as far as I knew at the time). No gadgets, no contacts, & no magical "eye in the sky", this guy had to use his wits to get ahead.

8.) 007 Goldeneye - To me, Pierce Brosnan is the best bond and his opponent is another Double-Oh agent, that's a very big OMG! His opponent didnt mess around either, he got his own hands dirty. The video game had no influence on this opinon at all, I promice!

9.) Armitage III: Poly-Matrix - This is a really neato anime film with a cyberpunk future on mars. I dunno how deep the movie was trying to be, but it showed some nasty racism, against robots. Might not sound orignal now, but this was the 1st time I've seen it here.

10.) Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro - Speaking of anime and III's this is a Lupin film directed by Hayao Miyazaki (Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Panyo, etc...). Great movie and I enjoy rooting for the bad guys but they're actually the good guys going to take down an even bigger bad guy while running away from the good guy's but sense they're against the main character that makes them the bad guys.... yeah.

11.) Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade - Harrison Ford & Sean Connery? FUCK YEAH! I also think that this is the most adventerous of all the Indy movies. Jone's goes all over the world and what makes this all better? He's fighting nazis while doing it! The only other Indy adventure that I think tops this is the video game Indiana Jones & The Fate of Atlantis

12.) The Matrix - When I first heard about this movie I didnt have much care for it. I thought it was about some stupid hacker on his stupid adventure (in a way, that's what it really is). I didnt expect the movie to be a thrilling action adventure about two worlds.

13.) 7 Samuari (orignal) - At times I've dismiseed a film because it was filmed in B&W, glad I didn't do it this time and became more open minded about movies sense.

14.) V For Vendetta - It's a feel good "Fight the power" movie. I also really enjoyed Hugo Weaving's acting in it. You knew V's emotions throughout the whole movie without seeing his face once. That takes some mad skills. I didn't really care that it was based on some comic book and really enjoyed the film (Im not dissing the comic here).

15.) Back Into the Future 1: Best time travel movie evar!

16.) Destrict 9 - I liked this because it was a alien science fiction movie set in modern times with a very different outlook of the aliens. They could of been the advanced civilization but they're not...

17.) Independence Day - Speaking of modern time aliens..... Plus the movie was totally had OMFG Fighter Jets but instead of it being F-14's it's F/A-18's whooooo! "Welcome to EARTH!"

18.) Secret of Nihm - I don't feel about this movie as strong as my sister does, but damn, this is one top quality animated film that wasnt Disney or Japanese. It didn't contain a self-righteous plot that's suppose to raise your self esteem either. For a movie about a bunch of talking rats and ferrets, they really where human.

19.) Toy Story - Speaking of Disney... 1st full CG film I've seen that I think still looks good even compared to recent full CG movies of today.

20.) 5th Element - Cant believe I almost forgot about this movie! This is the 1st time I noticed where the main character isnt actually the one who's gonna save the world, but the person he's gonna rescue is. Plus it's Bruce Willis getting himself involved into another gunfight, against aliens. That's just win.

1-6 Star Wars - The original trilogy to me are hands down the coolest movies ever made. New trilogy gets a lot of slack for not living up to the originals, but that's damn near impossible.
7-8 Raiders of the Lost Ark/Temple of Doom -Raiders, best action movie of all time. Love the pacing, characters, and down right adventure. The next best thing to Star Wars back in the day. Doom, most would say it' one of the weakest of the Jones films -but it's my second favorite. Playing up what I feel is the series strong point... action.
9-11 Transformers '86/'07/'09 - The Movie (86) was the high point of my childhood, and still my top favorite movie of all time. It's really the only point where an American project reached the more serious tone in animated features and was still ment for children. The first live action movie blew me away. The story was simple but a perfect fit for Transformers. ROTF, if only because it's Transformers. Hate it if you must, but it's still giant robots on a grand scale. What else is there in the relm of robot movies? Short Circuit?
    12. Fight Club - This movie blew my freaken mind. It went all over the place, and built such an interesting little world within our own. Like the Matrix, except it was... well... original and not predictable as hell. Epic camera work, perfect cast... and beyond enjoyable to watch. The only movie I can still watch nearly as if it's the first time.
    13. Princess Mononoke - I've always loved Miyazaki films, even before I knew his name. Mononoke reached this god like level for me when it was released '97. Very creative and beyond beautiful.
    14. The Lion King - The only animated Disney film that ever touched my core. I fell inlove with this movie just from the trailer. The songs were great (and up till then I didn't much care for musicals, save one- Grease). The animation and character designs had a more real world feel.
    15. Jaws - Basicly the first Blockbuster. Starts off as a monster movie and half way through becomes an action adventure. It captivated the world and set the bar for movies for at least a decade.
    16. Nightmare Before Christmas - Wildly inventive, groundbreaking stop-motion, fantastic catchy music, instantly lovable iconic characters... what's not to love here?
    17. Jurassic Park - I've been brought to tears being over whelmed from witnessing perfection... feeling true wonder, only twice in my adult life. The second time was during the Arrivial scene in the '07 Transformers... the first time was Jurassic Park when they showed dinosaurs. When that Brontosaurs reared up... I cried. Beyond that, it's just a fantastic movie that was an unforgetable bench mark in film history.
    18. Ghostbusters- As with all my picks, Ghostbusters is very creative and in a natural way constructs a world of wonder. Mixing super natural and technology in a truely inventive way. I'm not really a fan of what you'd call comedies.. I enjoy them, but don't really take them to heart. Even though Ghostbusters is technically a comedy.. to me it's just awsome Sci Fi. Ghost exterminatiors... brilliant.
    19. Pulp Fiction - for a short time I felt it was the greatest movie ever made. It openned my eyes to the world of indpendent film. It had so much style and seemed to just break all the rules in story telling. You could never guess what would come next.
    20. Macross DYRL- I'm a huge Macross fan. It got me into Anime.. and DYRL is a stand out achivement in Animation. Still one of the most beautiful animated films ever made.

Revenge of the Fallen: Love the bots, love the designs, love the transformations, love the fight scenes.

Transformers (2007): Better pacing than ROTF but not as much TF screen time. A close second though.

Lord of the Rings Trilogy: I can't help but see these as one film. Beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, faithful to Tolkein's vision.

Iron Giant: One of only 4 movies to make my cry. "Superman". 'Scuse me, got something in my eye...

Star Wars "Six"ilogy (Favorite of which is Empire Strikes Back): Because it's Star Wars. I want a real light saber.

Toy Story: Another of the 4 that have actually produced tears - when Buzz realizes he's a toy and not something "bigger" and more important. I don't know, it just summed up so many feelings for me.

The Simpsons Movie: I love this one so much that I listen to it in the car (audio only) and laugh. I know the visuals by heart so I just need to hear it to picture the whole thing through.

Nightmare Before Christmas: The greatest musical ever made. I AM THE PUMPKIN KING.

Office Space: I laugh and laugh... then I feel sad because that's my f$%^ing life at work right there.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back: And then you say "My what a lovely tea party!".

Spaceballs: THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A PARODY!!! (slaps the Wayans brothers repeatedly)

The Matrix: Unbelievable visuals, great story, fantastic ideas.

Aliens: Because aliens and space marines are the freaking s%&t.

Zoolander: Because it teaches us that anyone can die in a sudden gasoline fight accident.

Austin Powers Trilogy: So quotable. So imitatable.

Jurassic Park: It had real f$%king dinosaurs in it people!

Signs: It had a very personal impact on me because that farmhouse reminded me so strongly of the one I grew up in, where I had nightmares about aliens and the house being invaded by burglars/bad guys. This movie just cut right through me.

    Hot Fuzz: Yarp.

Robocop: I want to be Robocop... maybe without the grisly death part though. I will lose a leg if it means I get to put a massive pistol in the new one.

Spiderman 2: Best superhero movie so far.

Iron Man: The second best superhero movie so far. Needed more red/gold Iron Man though.

UHF: ... Because life is like a mop. Sometimes it's full of dirt and crud and bugs and hairballs and stuff, but you've got to clean it out. You gotta put it in here and rinse it out and start all over again. And sometimes, life sticks to the floor so bad a mop isn't good enough. It's not good enough. You gotta get down here with a toothbrush and really scrub, and if that doesn't work, if that doesn't work...you can't give up. You've got to run a window and say, "HEY! THESE FLOORS ARE AS DIRTY AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!"

That's more than 20. Sue me.

Sorry, I know this is a Transformers board and I probably sound like an elitist jackass, but I can't believe some people are actually putting ROTF in their top 20.
