I have a friend that used to do this. She is better now, but it used to be pretty serious. I am aware that addictions focus on the same area of the brain, be it food, games, alcohol or drugs. How does this fit in?

    Endorphins and reward cycles.

When you "accomplish something" your brain rewards you with good feelings.

In an old-school environment, finding food, shelter, and so on did it for you. As we've moved far beyond subsistence level living, we found more sophisticated ways to access the same "rush".

Treatment study, treating it as though it were an addiction disorder.

Bulimia Nervosa is a serious disease. After all, they had a Diffr'nt Strokes episode dedicated to it.

I bet all the kids will ask what Diff'nt Strokes is. GOOGLE.

IIRC, System flush is more about a short term of purging, followed by replenishing the system with "pure" substances. This, unfortunately, sounds more like bulimia, which is a long term addiction to purging to purposely keep the system empty as much as possible.

It's good that she's better now, but I'd still keep an eye on her in that regard.

You said "Purge" and I got images of space marines.

Which is odd, because I don't even play Warhammer.

when the purge comes it will be my first step towards glory and greatness. with all those who opposed me cast aside i will rise in power to the highest ranks, crush those who already occupy that place. Then i will elevate the very nature of leadership, and lead all those who remain to a new greatness that only i may provide.

The Great Purge of Dissidents is only the first step.

wait you mean like throwing up? oh man, ok, then they need to start talking to someone professional about this. also forget what i just said
