If you are getting a PS3, the one advice I can give you is this: Don't play PlayStation Home. It will suck up a lot of time.
Ratchet and clank! Buy them! They have to be my favourite games on the PS3 and were the only I was sad to let go of when I sold my PS3 to get an xbox (more friends had one + Halo)
Thanks for all the advice and game suggestions, I know have a list of games to get to rival my Transformers want list my PS3 and games have shipped and Tuesday cannot come soon enough.
Get Black Ops! Anyways, glad to see someone else get a PS3. I also own MW3, but add me - PSN info in sig - so that we can play Zombies if/when ya get Black Ops. On a side note, I can't wait for Black Ops II!
Get Black Ops, even if only for the Zombies. It's a major improvement on WaW's Nazi Zombies. Grab Ultimate MVC3, too. I played my friends MVC3 and it was ridiculously fun.
Others have already stated the basics but yeah Arkham batman series Black Ops (seriously, just get black ops and see if you feel a need for any other CoD game after) Little Big Planet Gokarts when it comes out!
May I suggest picking up the Scott Pilgrim game, Mega Man 9 and 10, the Simpsons Arcade game, and Turtles in Time in the PS Store? They are all worth it (though Turtles can be a bit short, but fun as hell). Also if you like Sonic the Hedgehog (or at least the originals) I'd go for Sonic Generations as well as picking up Sonic 1, 2, and CD (the last three can be found in the PS Store as well). Also, if you have AVI videos on your computer, you can play them through the PS3 by taking a memory stick (not an external hard drive), then going to the video section where a green icon for your stick will appear. Hit triangle and select "Display all."
Some of the downloadable games can be a lot of fun. Trine and Dead Nation are well worth the money. Crash Commando is great, too, but almost no one plays online anymore.
Better yet, hit the Gamestop and look at their used game prices. Then go online (or use Google shopping to look for local stores) and pay the same price for a new copy somewhere else. Do you (or anyone else who wants to jump in) know if Turtles, Simpsons, or X-Men can be played online. I saw that one of them (but don't remember which) could, but the others didn't say anything. I almost bought Twisted Metal 2 from PSN but it said no multiplayer at all.
I know Turtles has online play, as does Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (I didnt recommend it originally but its worth it as well), the others I am not sure.
