$20 more than the DS...but i'll still pass, it needs more games that i like.
No memory card? That's about the same as no HDMI cable.
DS=$130, so a $40 difference.
maybe you can't really call it a price drop as items are being removed...
so now i'm wondering, is the headphones and memory card worth $30...would it be better to get this "core" version and get my own MC and HP or get the other one.
and heh, forgot the DS is $130.
Maybe they revised them since, but the earphones that came with mine are low quality. As for the memory card, well the one that they included was too small in the first place, but removing the card doesn't really solve the size problem.
The PSP is a nice bit of hardware, but even if it was the same price as the DS I still wouldn't be interested. I only use my portable game systems for games, and the PSP just doesn't have anything I care about. The price drop is a good move though on Sony's part, for what it's worth.
(goes to play newly bought DS Lite Onyx!)
Price drop: Thats good
Removing items: Thats bad
But it comes with a free Frogurt: Thats good
The Frogurt is cursed: Thats bad...
Anyway. "Core" packs are becoming asinine. Its a kind of "screw you" buy performing a real price drop on the item. Especially by not including a memory card with the thing, seeing as how the PSP kinda really needs a memory card to be useful at all.
I really dont know how people can say this. There are a lot of really great games for the system.
I didn't say its games were bad at all. I just said it has nothing I care about. Which is true for me. There just aren't enough games for it that I want to play to get me to drop any amount of money on it.
I mean $170 to play Darkstalkers on a small screen, I like the game, but not that much.
For those who look at the PSP game library and find things they really want to play, then go for it and enjoy, at a new low price I might add!
Silly as hell to cut the memory stick, since it's almost a demo unit without one.
Given that Memory sticks are so damn cheap these days, it was almost insulting that they give you the 8meg ones to begin with XD
well that's silly, its basically useless without a memory stick.
They aren't removing anything. People don't read or pay attention at all. The basic PSP (which didn't include the memory stick), which has been available at retail for quite some time for $199 is what is being dropped in price. The PSP pack with the memory card was dropped from $250 to $220.
never knew that...thanks for the clarification...
still too much for me.
Still it just doesn't do it for me. There really isn't anything I want to play on it (The remake of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood is something I do want to play but we still don't know if it will come over here, and if it did that would mean a good chance of it showing up on Wii VC since the high demand for it on Konami/Hudson message boards).
Once you get the homebrew, PS1 and other emulators going, the fun and value of the PSP goes WAY up.
Since I got my custom firmware PSP, I haven't touched my DS, and I was very addicted to it.
I've had my PSP for 2 year almost. Paid $250 for it, and it was worth every penny.
It needs to either expand its library dramatically or drop its price by about $70 more, and then I'll consider getting one.
Learn something every day. I had no idea they sold a memorystick-less PSP package in the first place.
Exactly, the only real point of owning a PSP at the moment is to have a portable emulator system. Portable CPS2 brawlers FTW!
The PsP is MORE than worth the normal price once you load a custom firmware on the sucker. Hell, with this news, I might pick up a second one.
