I'll have to check my Bludgeon and CW Megatron later, both of them are on display in robot mode so I should be okay, I hope.

So far the only problem figures have been based on the ROTF Demolishor and Bludgeon molds. There's no need to panic, at least not until there's confirmed cases in figures not based on these two molds.

Everyone's in panic mode currently. Anything that even remotely looks to have any kind of PVC or "rubber" is immediately suspect and feared to be melting, even though it's only ROTF Demolishor and Bludgeon's molds that seem to be suffering so far.

well this sucks, I really wanted that bludgeon mold... even if superion were affected, which, again, we only have evidence of it with these two molds, his antennae are painted over, so nothing is in direct contact with them unless the paint has worn off on the inside or you scraped it off to fix the antennae mobility

WHAT?! Well, thankfully my Bludgeon doesn't have any melting plastic.

Hmm. I noticed a couple of my TF's had bits melted if stored with rubber tires resting on them. It annoyed the hell out of me at the time.

Same happens with paint if you store figures on top of one another for extended periods of time. Good old science. The twat.

C'est la vie. Everything is finite.

I'll have to check mine. Last I knew, he was fine. That's some seriously scary stuff.

    EDIT:

    Oh. My. Goodness.

It's happened to mine, as well. It's not just burned the legs, it's also affected the plastic pieces that attach the treads to the tank in vehicle mode. They're holding just fine, but if you look at the pinned hinge, which is how they connect, you'll see what looks like shiny superglue residue. It's the plastic melting into a nice sheen where it touches the rubber.

You've got to be kidding me.

    *sighs*

You know what this means, right? Pretty much any figure with this rubber will be ruined in time. Problem is, some figures use this rubber for their heads!

PRID Dreadwing and TR Mindwipe, for example. (The latter also uses it for his wing tips. Yay.)

I'm gonna call this Acidic Rubber Syndrome (A.R.S.) (not attempting to do an innuendo there)

Balls. I was messing with my ROTF Bludgeon recently enough and he seemed fine thankfully.

So for the slow people in the audience like myself, this problem is exacerbated by keeping the figures in storage? So the stuff out and breathing on my shelf won't start melting quite as quickly?

While my first thought was 'oh no' upon reading this thread, my second (more childish) thought was Acid battle damage!

Mine is out on display and is damaged. It's luck of the draw at the moment, but will get worse and time goes on and more and more people will come forward with reports of theirs being damaged, too.

Thanks...I'm really speechless at the state of things. Maybe I'll just get a 3p figure of Superion.

I'm crushed. That Blitzwing is one of my all time faves. :(

My Superion is safe because I used a 3P head.

I'm not too optimistic about the rest of the figures using this material because it seems just a matter of time b4 the material breaks down.

The affected toys were released in 2009? So we'll wait and see within the next year or so to see if more toys have this issue.

"Another new condition?! It's all just attentionseeking. It's just an imaginary condition. Everyone knows these conditions are all just invented by third party companies to sell more upgrades. Blah blah."
