Just curious if many stories have come out on issues with the PS3. I know it is early, but I am debating trying to snag one of the next shipments if possible. I had heard about issues with playing PS2 games. Was/Is this confirmed?
Its confirmed. They say only about 200 PS/PS2 titles cant play on the PS3. But there are some major titles that dont. Like Every Gran Turismo Title out right now will not woork on a PS3.
Some PSX and PS2 games are currently incompatible. IGN has a list, but I can't get to it at the moment (school blocks the website). Some HD tvs won't work correctly with the PS3. Mostly older tv's with only 1080i. The real problem is that more than half the PS3s that have been sold are in the hands of scalpers. Many of the rest are meant as Xmas gifts. So it'll be a few weeks before the majority of them are actually tested.
Words from my friend who has a PS3. "It overheats like a motherfucker!" Also he had a lot of problems setting it up to display through the HDMI port. Other than those and the weight, it seems to be so far so good. But also, he has not used it very much (watched a movie and played a little of Resistance). The day after he got it he had to go wait for the Wii.
I'm pretty sure that isnt true as IGN said they played the last one out for ps2 on their ps3 in 1080i
Just wait... The console isn't going to disappear (and if it does, then it obviously didn't have good games and you're not missing out), and it gives Sony time to work out any bugs that are found. The rule is wait for the 2nd generation of consoles, then think about buying them.
Damn right. That's why I am going to wait 2 years til I will even consider PS3. Maybe longer if problems persist.

I bought 3 PS3s and sold them for 3 grand each, hate me or not i made a lot of money and waited a long time in line to do so. Ill use this money and buy 3 more, and so the cycle continues and my xmas is all the merrier. incidently MY ps3 wouldnt read disks straight out the box.
I just barely bought a PS2 today. The silver slim version at $130. I was hoping for a price drop with the PS3 coming out, but it didn't look like it would happen this holiday, so my impulse took over. I'm feenin too much for Guitar Hero 2 to wait for when friends come over with their system.
Like some of you guys here, I will wait until the bugs are completely ironed out...its the norm for the prices of electronic products to fall eventually.
It's a problem with systems that update themselves. It can, has, and will continue to happen with 360s, PSPs, Wiis, PS3s, and PC flash BIOS chips. Did I complain about the bricked 360s and PSPs? Not once. Does he look bright to you?
