I'm not really clear on how this works. Do the tracks download the first time you put the disc in? What if you don't have a PS2 hard drive/space available on Wii? Or do you have to swap this disc in when you want to play these songs? If so, is it a hot swap that requires the original game disc or is this a full version of the game with different songs and no instrument bundle?

This is a good idea and I really wish Activision would do the same for Guitar Hero 3, but I guess it's Aerosmith or nothing in the future.

from what i hear, this is more of a standalone...so when you pop the game in, those are only the games that you can play...as for having to have the original game, i dont think you need it.

    but that's what i hear.

this isn't too bad really. it's cheaper than downloading all the songs at least, so there's at least a little bit of incentive to get it anyway. too bad there's still no online play though, especially after we've got some decent online going on with mario kart now.

That's a separate issue, and one I don't disagree with. They have slots for SD cards, so they merely need a firmware update and we'd have that issue taken care of. I'm guessing their delay on this is trying to allow for external storage but still have all their piracy protection or something.

I wouldn't mind storing things like songs for rock band and stuff on an sd card to be honest. I see why they don't do so with the emulators. But some games still don't let you store stuff on the sd card. Which is kind of annoying

Sounds a lot like the PS2 HDD. It was there, but no company wanted to support it.

Which are indescribably SLOW to transfer data to and from.

    Ball firmly dropped.

    Correct.

512 MBs is just awful. At least Nintendo is a addressing the issue and has plans to do "something" about it.

Only silver lining to this shit cloud is I intended to buy all these songs anyway, so I least I get them cheaper... at the trade off of frustratingly having to either swap disks or play a separate game entirely.

they're only slow to transfer off of when using the wii menu. in-game use can be pretty darn seamless. smash bros does it for photos and user-created levels. excite truck lets you use it for songs. there's no good reason for other games not to use it at all aside from developers not using it.

But it's locked for storing and accessing actual CONTENT because you can't save directly to it from the "channels" and circumventing that avenue probably breaks all kinds of Nintendo TRC's.

    Ball still dropped. Firmly.

download content is accessed in-game, not from the channels menu. i'm sure they could easily store that on an sd card if they wanted to.

How do you get that content to people?

Via those stupid fucking channels. Which all drop to the internal memory. And SD cards are not a reasonable solution to what is a completely idiotic problem in the first place :mad
